On Friday, June 5, 2026, at approximately 1448 hours, I, Officer M.D. Mercado of the Adairsville Police Department, was dispatched to Hampton Inn & Suites, located at 101 Travelers Path NW, Adairsville, GA 30103, in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, I made contact with hotel management, who advised that an intoxicated male and female were involved in an argument. Management stated they feared for the female’s safety after observing the male pull her by the arm when she attempted to walk away from him.

I then made contact with the male, identified as Brian Jackson. Upon speaking with Mr. Jackson, I detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. Mr. Jackson admitted that he had been drinking and stated that he and his wife had become involved in an argument over food. When asked if he had consumed alcohol that day, Mr. Jackson confirmed that he had.

Mr. Jackson stated that his wife bit him on the back of his hand because he did not order the food she wanted. While speaking with him, I observed that he had difficulty maintaining a consistent account of the events, which appeared to be due to his level of intoxication. Mr. Jackson denied placing his hands on his wife and continued to claim that she had bitten him.

While inside the hotel lobby, Mr. Jackson became increasingly loud and began using profane language while discussing allegations that his wife was having an affair. Due to the presence of several hotel guests, including minors, I instructed Mr. Jackson to stop using profanity.

I then escorted Mr. Jackson outside the hotel and again warned him that continued disorderly behavior and use of profane language in public could result in his arrest. Despite these warnings, Mr. Jackson continued loudly discussing the alleged affair as guests entered and exited the hotel. During this time, Mr. Jackson stated, “I caught her with a di*k up her a*s.”

Based on his continued disorderly conduct after being warned multiple times, I informed Mr. Jackson that he was under arrest and instructed him to turn around.

As I attempted to place him in handcuffs, Mr. Jackson pulled away and turned his body away from me. I maintained control of one of his wrists; however, Mr. Jackson resisted by stiffening his arms and preventing me from placing him into handcuffs. Mr. Jackson then pulled one arm away from my grasp, continuing to resist arrest.

In an effort to gain control, I pushed Mr. Jackson against the door of my patrol vehicle. During the struggle, Mr. Jackson sustained a skin tear to his left forearm while I was attempting to secure his hands behind his back.

Mr. Jackson was eventually placed in handcuffs behind his back. The handcuffs were checked for proper fit and double-locked. He was then secured in the rear seat of my patrol vehicle. I returned to my patrol vehicle and conducted a GCIC/NCIC check.

A short time later, I opened the rear passenger door and asked Mr. Jackson if he wished to have EMS respond to evaluate the injury to his forearm. Mr. Jackson declined medical attention and stated, “No.”

I then returned to the hotel and spoke with the female, identified as [VICTIM #1], who had been speaking with Sgt. W. Burchett.

Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated that she and her husband had been arguing and that the argument had continued to escalate. She stated that she believed the situation was going to worsen, so she picked up the hotel room phone and attempted to call 911. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated that Mr. Jackson immediately snatched the phone away from her and grabbed her wrist. She further stated that Mr. Jackson then pinned her against a wall by her shoulders after taking the phone from her.

While inside the hotel room, I observed multiple empty liquor bottles that appeared to have been recently consumed.

I then transported Mr. Jackson to the Bartow County Jail, where custody was transferred to jail staff without incident.
