Bartow County (October 14, 2022) – Bartow County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man wearing a ballistic vest and holding a submachine gun after firing shots through a wall into his neighbor’s apartment.
Officers responded to a report from a neighbor of a possible burglary shortly after 5 PM at an Evergreen Trail apartment community in Cartersville. The neighbor said it sounded like Evan Scott Keesee, 31, was breaking through her bedroom wall.
When officers went next door to speak with Keesee, he came to the door in a ballistic vest and holding a gun. Officers noted bullet holes in the walls, spent shell casings, and bags of mushrooms in the apartment.
Keesee cooperated with officers and was taken to a local hospital. He was later charged with four felonies, including possession of controlled substances and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. A misdemeanor charge was added for reckless conduct. Deputies booked him into the Bartow County Jail.
Bond was set for Keesee at $13,500.

Friday 10-14-2022 at 1722 I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Evergreen Trl in reference to a possible burglary.
Upon arrival I spoke with [VICTIM #1] who stated it sounded like her neighbor was breaking through the wall in her bedroom.
I went inside a saw behind a dresser, holes in the wall coming from the apartment next to hers.
I knocked on the door of apartment [REDACTED] and Evan Keesee opened the door. Evan was wearing a ballistic vest and was holding a small sub gun at his side. Evan was ordered to drop the gun, which he did, and was then detained until we could determine what was going on.
Upon clearing the apartment, I observed multiple gun shot holes in the wall of the apartment, spent shell casings, and 2 large bags of mushrooms were located in plain sight.
I contacted the on call Drug Task Force agent and informed them of the incident.
I transported Evan to Piedmont Cartersville Hospital.
The scene was turned over to Investigator Menzel.
