On Monday, June 22, I, Officer J. Silvers with the Adairsville Police Department Uniform Patrol Division, responded to 5859 Joe Frank Harris Parkway in reference to a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, Sergeant Asher was speaking with a female and a male, later identified as [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2]. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she had come to pick up her two juvenile children from their father, a male later identified as Demarco Moore. Ms. [VICTIM #1] advised that Mr. Moore began yelling at her and calling her derogatory names. She stated that Mr. Moore noticed she was on a FaceTime call with her boyfriend, Mr. [VICTIM #2], which made him angry. Ms. [VICTIM #1] reported that Mr. Moore physically pushed her down into the driver’s seat of her vehicle and held her down by her arms, causing visible small cuts to her wrists.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] further stated that Mr. Moore grabbed her phone from her hand, threw it onto the ground, and then began walking toward her boyfriend, Mr. [VICTIM #2], in an aggressive manner.
Mr. [VICTIM #2] stated that he was in his vehicle at the same convenience store when he heard yelling and observed Mr. Moore and Ms. [VICTIM #1] involved in a physical altercation. Mr. [VICTIM #2] advised that he approached in an attempt to stop the altercation. He stated that Mr. Moore then charged toward him in an aggressive manner, causing him to draw his pistol and repeatedly instruct Mr. Moore to stop approaching him.
Sergeant Asher and I reviewed the surveillance footage. The video showed that Mr. [VICTIM #2] did, in fact, draw a pistol; however, he never pointed the weapon at anyone. Mr. [VICTIM #2] appeared to maintain control of the firearm and used it in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
Mr. [VICTIM #2] further stated that Mr. Moore eventually stopped approaching him, returned to his vehicle, and left the scene. Prior to leaving, Mr. Moore took photographs of Mr. [VICTIM #2]’s license plate.
Sergeant Asher and I then traveled to [REDACTED], the residence of Mr. Moore. Mr. Moore met us at the door. I placed Mr. Moore in handcuffs, checking for proper fit and double-locking the cuffs.
I then transported Mr. Moore to the Bartow County Jail without incident.
