On May 22nd, 2026, at 2123 hours, I was dispatched to [REDACTED], Lot [REDACTED], Cartersville, GA 30121 in reference to a dispute.

While en route, dispatch stated the caller wanted to meet at the Center Last Stop Grocery, 394 SR-20 Spur, Cartersville, GA 30121.

Upon arrival, I spoke with [VICTIM #1], who stated when he came to pick up his daughter, [REDACTED BY AGENCY], from a family member, he was slapped in the face twice by a guy he didn’t know. [VICTIM #1] stated he was sitting in the front passenger seat of [WITNESS #1]’s vehicle because [WITNESS #1] had given him and his wife, [WITNESS #2], a ride to pick up their daughter. [VICTIM #1] stated while he had his door open, smoking a cigarette, and [WITNESS #2] was getting [REDACTED BY AGENCY] into the car, a guy came up to him and asked him what he said. [VICTIM #1] stated he told the guy, ” I said get the kid and let’s go and the guy asked him a second time about what he said.

[VICTIM #1] stated after the second time the guy asked him what he said, he came up to the truck where he was sitting and slapped him on the left side of his face. [VICTIM #1] stated after the first slap, he told the guy, ” Please get away, my kid is here, I’m not the man I used to be. I’m trying to be the fu*king bigger man, and my child is sitting here watching this.” [VICTIM #1] stated after telling the guy to get away, he was slapped again by the man he didn’t even know. [VICTIM #1] stated he believed the guy’s name was Justin. [VICTIM #1] stated everyone in the truck observed him getting slapped twice. [VICTIM #1] stated the guy was wearing a black tank top and shorts.

I spoke with [WITNESS #1], who stated he was given gas money from [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #2] to bring them to pick up [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [WITNESS #1] stated [VICTIM #1] was sitting in the front passenger seat. [WITNESS #1] stated the guy who slapped [VICTIM #1] came up to the truck and asked [VICTIM #1] what he said, and proceeded to slap him afterwards. [WITNESS #1] stated after [VICTIM #1] was asked a second time what he said, the guy slapped him in the face a second time.

I asked [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #2] if [REDACTED BY AGENCY] observed the altercation between [VICTIM #1] and the guy who slapped him, and both stated she did. I asked if I could speak with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in their presence, and [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #2] advised me I could.
I spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY], who is seven years old. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she wasn’t inside the truck, but she was with [WITNESS #2] walking around the back of the truck when she observed [VICTIM #1] get slapped. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated the guy’s name is Dustin, and he is her mom’s grandmother’s friend.

I spoke with [WITNESS #2], who stated she observed [VICTIM #1] get slapped twice by a guy neither of them knew.

[WITNESS #2] stated she was getting [REDACTED BY AGENCY] from a family member and, in the process of putting her in the vehicle to leave, the incident occurred. [WITNESS #2] stated the lot where the guy is staying is lot [REDACTED] in the McKaskey Creek campground.

I asked [VICTIM #1] what he would like to do, and he advised me he wanted to pursue charges for the guy slapping him. I observed a red mark on the left side of [VICTIM #1]’ neck near his jaw and ear. Pictures of [VICTIM #1]’ neck with it being red were taken on my department-issued body-worn camera. [VICTIM #1] stated he didn’t need any medical attention.

Other deputies and I relocated to lot [REDACTED] at the McKaskey Creek campground to locate and speak with the male involved.

Upon arrival, I located a male wearing a black tank top and shorts. I asked the male if his name was Dustin, and he stated it was.

I spoke with Dustin, who stated he was listening to [REDACTED BY AGENCY], crying and saying she didn’t want to go with [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #2]. Dustin stated he walked up to where [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #2] were picking up [REDACTED BY AGENCY] because the ” pedophile ” said something, and he was trying to figure out what he said. Dustin stated he calls [VICTIM #1] a pedophile because of the accusations he has heard about him.

Dustin stated, ” I’ll tell you the truth, he ([VICTIM #1]) headbutted my hand is all I can tell you.” I asked Dustin where [VICTIM #1] had headbutted his hand, and he showed me the palm of his right hand.

When I asked Dustin to explain how [VICTIM #1] headbutted his hand, he stated, ” Because he was saying something.” Dustin then paused and stated, ” Come on, man, you know I smacked this guy.”

Due to the red mark on [VICTIM #1]’ neck and Dustin admitting to hitting [VICTIM #1], Dustin was placed under arrest. Dustin was placed in handcuffs to the rear and put in the rear of my patrol vehicle. Dustin was transported to the Bartow County jail and turned over to the jail staff without further incident.

Warrants for Battery and Cruelty to children in the 3rd degree have been secured for Dustin’s arrest. Cruelty to children warrant is for when [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was present and observed Dustin commit battery on [VICTIM #1].
