On Saturday, September 27, 2025, at approximately 1928 hours, I was dispatched to 120 S Erwin St (The Local) for a suspicious person. While enroute, dispatch informed me the person left on foot toward Erwin St and Main St. OFC Brown continued to The Local to obtain a description of the person. OFC Brown advised the suspect was a black male with a Georgia hat and a camo hat clipped to his belt.
I located the male walking in the roadway at the intersection of Erwin St and Church St that matched the description. I noticed a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from the male. The male had red watery eyes and slurred speech. I asked the male if he had consumed any alcohol and he stated a little bit. When asked for his identification, the male asked “do I have to give it to you” and started recording with his phone. I identified the male as Mr. Jeremiah Edwards. Mr. Edwards stated he was on the sidewalk, but when he attempted to demonstrate where he was walking, he was pointed to the roadway next to the sidewalk.
Mr. Edwards became boisterous, while being questioned about when he was at The Local. Mr. Edward stated you can try me if you want. I placed Mr. Edwards into handcuffs behind the back, checked for fit, and double locked for safety. A search of Mr. Edwards was conducted yielding negative of contraband and weapons. I assisted Mr. Edwards into the back my department issued patrol vehicle which was searched prior to and after transport yielding negative of weapons and contraband. After placing Mr. Edwards in my patrol vehicle, he shouted “I’ll take your life n****r. I will take all of your lives”. Mr. Edward stated loudly “You stupid motherfu*ker come on, come on. Give it to me. Lock me up, I’m one of them let’s see how far you go. That boy is going to die for you”.
Metro arrived on scene to ensure Mr. Edwards was not experiencing excited delirium due to his behavior. Metro checked Mr. Edwards’ blood pressure and heart rate. He was cleared by Metro. I called Bartow dispatch to listen to the recording when Mr. Edwards called 911. On the recording Mr. Edwards was advised not to make threats on a recorded line. Mr. Edwards advised Bartow dispatch people at the local told him to leave the area or they would shoot him. Mr. Edwards stated on the recording in a loud tumultuous manner he would fight everyone there.
I transported Mr. Edwards to 104 Zena Dr (Bartow County Adult Detention Center) for housing. I obtained warrants for Disorderly Conduct (CE-0176629), Pedestrian under the influence (CE-0176630), and Pedestrian must walk on sidewalk when available (CE-0176631). OFC Lara, OFC Brock, and SGT Foster were also on scene.
