On Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, at approximately 1212 hours, I was dispatched to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a fraud report.
I met with [WITNESS #1], who advised she is the caretaker and legal guardian of [VICTIM #1], who has Down syndrome. [WITNESS #1] stated she has been [VICTIM #1]’s guardian since September 18th, following the death of [VICTIM #1]’s sister and previous guardian, [REDACTED]. [WITNESS #1] reported that since assuming custody of [VICTIM #1], she has noticed $1,500.00 in fraudulent charges on [VICTIM #1]’s Truist Bank account.
[WITNESS #1] advised that approximately one week after [REDACTED] passed away, [REDACTED]’s children informed her that individuals had broken into [REDACTED]’s residence and stolen her purse. [WITNESS #1] stated no police report was made at the time, and she was unsure why. She further stated that because [REDACTED] was [VICTIM #1]’s previous guardian, [VICTIM #1]’s banking information was inside [REDACTED]’s purse when it was stolen. [WITNESS #1] believes that whoever took the purse may be the individual(s) who made the fraudulent charges on [VICTIM #1]’s account.
I provided [WITNESS #1] with a case number and advised her to contact the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office with any questions.
