On September 13, 2025, at approximately 1035 hours, I, Deputy Shortnacy, with the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, was dispatched to the area of Cassville Road and Jordan Road, Cartersville, GA, 30120, in reference to a fight in progress.
As I arrived on scene, I spoke with the victim, Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. [VICTIM #1] was actively bleeding from the face area. His left eye was also swollen shut, along with swelling around his nose. I asked if he needed an ambulance and he stated yes so I had dispatch have Bartow County Fire and Emergency Services and Metro EMS en route to my location to check Mr, [VICTIM #1] out.
I asked where the suspect was and Ms. [WITNESS #1] advised that it was her grandson, Mr. Jordan English, and that he was inside the residence at [40 BLOCK] Jordan Road. I then went to make contact with Mr. English. I asked him what happened and he stated that he came over to see his grandmother, Ms. [WITNESS #1]. He stated while they were talking, Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated “and that is when I hit her”, while standing up and pulling up his pants. Mr. English then advised that he stood up and pulled up his pants and stepped toward Mr. [VICTIM #1]. He advised that when he stepped toward Mr. [VICTIM #1], Mr. [VICTIM #1] threw his hands up at him, and he began to hit him. Mr. English advised that Mr. [VICTIM #1] has a history hitting Ms. [WITNESS #1]. Mr. English advised that when Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that was when he hit her, he stood up.
Ms. [WITNESS #1] advised that their has not been any physical altercations between her and Mr. [VICTIM #1]. I spoke with Mr. [VICTIM #1] again to ask him what happened and he stated that him and Ms. [WITNESS #1] was talking about her getting treatment due to her having HIV. He asked her if she was messing around on him, and that is when Mr. English started to hit him. Mr. [VICTIM #1] advised that he tried running off, but Mr. [ENGLISH] grabbed him by his neck and began hitting him again. Mr. [VICTIM #1] advised that he fell to the ground and believes he lost consciousness. Ms. [WITNESS #1] advised that he did lose consciousness. Mr. English advised that he quit hitting Mr. [VICTIM #1] when he fell to the ground.
I asked if Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Mr. English had ever lived together and they stated no. I then asked Mr. [VICTIM #1] if he wished to press charges and he stated yes. I then placed Mr. English in handcuffs and advised him that he was under arrest. Mr. [VICTIM #1] was taken to Piedmont Cartersville Hospital for further treatment.
I then transported Mr. English to Bartow County Jail and turned him over to jail staff.
