On November 24, 2025, at 1037 hours, I was dispatched to [90 BLOCK] Sheffield Place, Apartment [REDACTED], Cartersville, GA 30121, in reference to a juvenile complaint in progress.

Upon arrival, I was approached by [REDACTED BY AGENCY] an [REDACTED BY AGENCY] year-old male and son of Kiesha Kunze. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated his mother had been abusing him and had thrown a drink coaster at him, striking him on the left buttock. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then showed me the coaster, which was a thick, square marble coaster missing one corner.

Kiesha then walked outside and stated that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had been attempting to hit family members with sticks and had punched his younger sister. Kiesha also stated [REDACTED BY AGENCY] threatened to break the television because she left him at home with his grandmother instead of taking him to the store. I informed Kiesha that she is legally allowed to use corporal punishment to correct behavior. Kiesha stated that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] fights her and will not allow her to spank him. I informed Kiesha that we could speak with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] further to address the root causes of his behavior.

Upon speaking with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] he stated Kiesha does more than spank him. He said she threatens him and threw the coaster at him, making contact. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] also stated Kiesha threatens to call law enforcement any time he acts out, telling him officers will send him to a mental institution because of his autism. I spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] about the consequences of acting out and how his behavior can affect both others and himself.

I then asked Kiesha to show me where the coaster incident occurred. Kiesha agreed and stated she threw the coaster out of anger but was unsure whether it struck the wall or the cabinets. I inspected the walls and cabinets and did not observe any fresh marks or damage consistent with the coaster having struck them.

I had Kiesha and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stand by inside the residence while I contacted [REDACTED] with Bartow County Child Protective Services. [REDACTED] stated there have been multiple prior cases involving Kiesha, but none previously required a response to the residence. At [REDACTED]’s request, a DFACS referral was made.

I then contacted Sergeant Dalton Gillman to respond and informed him of my findings. Prior to Sgt. Gillman’s arrival, I asked Kiesha to demonstrate what she had done with the coaster. Kiesha changed her statement, again saying she threw the coaster out of anger but was unsure whether she was aiming at the wall or cabinets. When I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to explain, he stated he had been running back and forth between the dining room and kitchen because Kiesha was attempting to throw the coaster at him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] demonstrated where he had been standing and how he moved to avoid being hit.

Upon Sgt. Gillman’s arrival, we reentered the residence and had both parties demonstrate their actions again. Kiesha stated she was not abusing her child, but that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was abusing the household. When asked Kiesha stated she did not intend to throw the coaster at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] only out of anger. When asked if she knew [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was in the kitchen, she stated, “He is constantly moving. I didn’t know where he was.” [REDACTED BY AGENCY] maintained a consistent story and stated Kiesha even “fake-threw” the coaster from the dining room before making contact with him in the kitchen.

Based on the totality of circumstances, Sgt. Gillman and I determined that Kiesha committed Cruelty to Children in the 2nd Degree due to throwing the coaster in [REDACTED BY AGENCY] direction, resulting in physical contact.

Before placing her into custody, Kiesha stated [REDACTED BY AGENCY] would not allow her to spank him and would run away, preventing her from disciplining him. We instructed Kiesha to step outside and informed her she was being placed under arrest for Cruelty to Children — 2nd Degree. Kiesha was given the opportunity to hug [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and was not placed in handcuffs in his view.

During the arrest process, Kiesha began screaming that she did not mean to throw the coaster at him and that it did not hurt him. Kiesha was placed in handcuffs behind her back, double-locked, and checked for proper fit and safety. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and his sister, [REDACTED BY AGENCY]([REDACTED BY AGENCY] were left at home with [REDACTED] at Kiesha’s request.

While being transported to jail, Kiesha continued screaming that she “didn’t mean to” and that it was an accident. Upon arrival, Kiesha became defiant and refused to cooperate with jail staff. After being cleared by medical staff, she was turned over to jail personnel.

Arrest warrants were taken for Cruelty to Children — 2nd Degree.
