On Thursday, August 27th, 2026, at approximately 2006 hours, I responded to Red Barn Grocery, located at 1348 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia, regarding a domestic dispute occurring inside the store.
Upon arrival, I met with Red Barn Grocery employee and witness [WITNESS #1]. I immediately observed [WITNESS #1] crying and appearing visibly upset by what she had just witnessed. [WITNESS #1] made statements to the effect of, “I begged them to let the little girl stay here.”
[WITNESS #1] advised that a black male, possibly identified as “Chris,” and a black female were involved in a verbal dispute inside the store with their [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY]-year-old daughter. [WITNESS #1] stated she overheard the argument and believed it was related to the juvenile having money on her Cash App or Venmo account that her mother wanted her to send to her. The juvenile did not want to send the money because she believed the money would ultimately be given to her stepfather. The juvenile reportedly stated that her mother is unable to keep money because the stepfather eventually takes it. [WITNESS #1] stated this appeared to anger the stepfather because he wanted the money.
[WITNESS #1] stated she observed the stepfather shove the juvenile and poke her in the face during the argument. [WITNESS #1] stated the juvenile was crying and appeared scared while inside the store. Other customers attempted to convince the female and juvenile to remain inside the store and away from the male subject until law enforcement arrived.
[WITNESS #1] reported that the male subject was told to leave the store. The male subject then exited the store and began laying on the vehicle’s horn. Other customers went outside and attempted to get the male subject to calm down.
I was informed that the subjects had left the area in a silver Chevrolet Equinox bearing a Georgia license plate, later identified as [REDACTED], traveling south on Joe Frank Harris Parkway. I immediately issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for the vehicle and its occupants.
I then went outside the store and spoke with witnesses [WITNESS #2] and [WITNESS #3].
[WITNESS #3] stated he entered the store to purchase a bag of ice. [WITNESS #3] stated he observed a woman and a juvenile female enter the store. [WITNESS #3] said he overheard a commotion involving a male subject wearing a red shirt. [WITNESS #3] stated he observed the male subject poke the [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY]-year-old juvenile in the face. [WITNESS #3] stated he observed the older female become upset after the male subject poked the juvenile. [WITNESS #3] stated the subjects exited the store and later returned inside.
[WITNESS #3] and [WITNESS #2] stated the male subject subsequently returned inside and was ordering the woman and juvenile to leave the store with him. [WITNESS #3] and [WITNESS #2] stated they attempted to keep the woman and juvenile from leaving with the male subject because of his behavior; however, the woman and juvenile ultimately left with him.
[WITNESS #2] stated he observed the male subject strike the female in the face with an open hand as they were leaving the area in the vehicle. [WITNESS #2] also stated the juvenile was saying that the male subject “always pokes her in the face.” Both witnesses described the juvenile as appearing scared during the incident.
I asked [WITNESS #1] if store surveillance footage of the incident was available. While reviewing the surveillance footage, I observed the dispute occurring in front of the cash register inside the store. I observed the male subject poke the juvenile in the face during the heated argument. I also observed the male subject shove the female while she was standing between the male subject and the juvenile. I observed the female fall in the direction of the juvenile, who was behind her.
Later, deputies located the suspect vehicle at Cass Grocery, located at 1564 Cassville Rd., with all involved parties still inside the vehicle. Deputies surrounded the vehicle with their emergency equipment activated and immediately made contact with the male subject. I initially spoke with the other involved parties.
I first spoke with the older female, who was identified as [VICTIM #1]. I asked [VICTIM #1] what had occurred. [VICTIM #1] stated the male subject, identified as Kristopher Jerome Long, has anger issues and that he and the juvenile, identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY], frequently argue.
[VICTIM #1] stated Kristopher became upset because [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had spoken out of line during an adult conversation. I asked [VICTIM #1] what the parties were arguing about at the cash register. [VICTIM #1] stated Kristopher wanted his money and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told her something to the effect of, “Momma, you’re not going to give him all of your money.”
I asked [VICTIM #1] if [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had possession of the money. [VICTIM #1] stated the money was on [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s Cash App account.
I asked [VICTIM #1] if Kristopher had put his hands on either her or [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [VICTIM #1] initially stated he had not. I informed [VICTIM #1] that I had observed surveillance footage showing Kristopher push her and poke [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in the face. After I told [VICTIM #1] this, she began moving around frequently and appeared nervous.
I also informed [VICTIM #1] that witnesses reported seeing Kristopher strike her in the face. [VICTIM #1] denied being struck in the face and stated that she and Kristopher were only arguing inside the vehicle. [VICTIM #1] did state that Kristopher had struck her in the past, stating, “It happens.”
I then spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated they had gone to the store and that Kristopher, whom she identified as her father, has “really bad anger issues.” [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Kristopher did not hit her but tapped his finger against her forehead during the argument, which frightened her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated this was not the first time Kristopher had tapped her forehead during an argument.
I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] if Kristopher had shoved her or [VICTIM #1]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated her mother attempted to stand between her and Kristopher to prevent him from getting any closer to her. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] if she was scared because Kristopher was coming toward her, and she stated that she was.
I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] what occurred inside the vehicle while they were leaving the store. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated her parents were arguing. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] if Kristopher ever struck her mother. I informed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] that witnesses reported seeing Kristopher strike [VICTIM #1]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she could not tell whether her mother had been struck because she was seated in the back seat.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that after they briefly returned home, she and [VICTIM #1] hid in a room because they were scared of Kristopher. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Kristopher entered the room and took her cell phone but later returned it.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated the argument was over money because the money [VICTIM #1] receives is eventually taken by Kristopher.
I then spoke with Kristopher. I asked Kristopher what had occurred. Kristopher stated [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had gotten “smart” with him and [VICTIM #1]. Kristopher stated he pointed his finger in [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s face and that they subsequently left the store.
I asked Kristopher if he poked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in the face. Kristopher only stated that he pointed his finger at [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. I asked Kristopher if he shoved [VICTIM #1]. Kristopher stated [VICTIM #1] was standing in the middle of the doorway and that he did not shove her. I asked Kristopher why [VICTIM #1] was standing in the doorway. Kristopher stated they were leaving the store.
I asked Kristopher why store employees had contacted law enforcement if nothing had occurred. Kristopher stated the store must have taken the incident out of context when he pointed his finger in his daughter’s face.
I then instructed Kristopher to place his hands behind his back. Kristopher complied. However, after being placed in handcuffs, Kristopher began yelling and using profanity loudly in the presence and proximity of his juvenile daughter and in a public area.
I placed Kristopher in the rear seat of my county-issued marked patrol vehicle and transported him to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. Kristopher was turned over to jail staff without incident for three (3) counts of Simple Battery under the Georgia Family Violence Act, one (1) count of Cruelty to Children in the First Degree under the Georgia Family Violence Act, and one (1) count of Disorderly Conduct.
The first count of Simple Battery (FVA) was based on Kristopher intentionally making physical contact of a provoking nature with juvenile [REDACTED BY AGENCY] by poking her in the face during an argument, as captured on store surveillance footage.
The second count of Simple Battery (FVA) was based on Kristopher intentionally making physical contact of a provoking nature with [VICTIM #1] by shoving her while she was standing between Kristopher and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] during the argument, as captured on store surveillance footage.
The third count of Simple Battery (FVA) was based on Kristopher intentionally making physical contact of a provoking nature with [VICTIM #1] by striking her in the face with an open hand, as reported by eyewitness [WITNESS #2]. This charge is based solely on [WITNESS #2]’s account but is reasonable to believe happened due to [VICTIM #1]’s comment stating physical altercations happen often.
The count of Cruelty to Children in the First Degree (FVA) was based on Kristopher intentionally making physical contact with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] during the argument, resulting in the charge of Simple Battery (FVA) against a juvenile. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] is a juvenile who is twelve (12) years old.
The count of Disorderly Conduct was based on Kristopher acting in a violent or tumultuous manner toward [REDACTED BY AGENCY], placing her in reasonable fear for the safety of her life, limb, or health. The charge was also based on Kristopher using obscene, vulgar, and/or profane language in the presence of [REDACTED BY AGENCY], a person under [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY] years of age, in a manner that threatened an immediate breach of the peace.

I attempted to contact the store by telephone on two occasions but was unable to reach anyone to inquire about the download process.
