On Tuesday, 02/04/2025, at approximately 2100 hours I was dispatched to [10 BLOCK] Weeping Willow Ln Cartersville, GA in reference to a domestic disturbance.
Upon my arrival I spoke with [VICTIM #1] whom stated her husband/ Phillip Cantrell had been fired from his job and sent home around 1950 hours for drinking on the job. An argument spurred and [VICTIM #1] retreated to her bedroom to get away from Phillip. Phillip went into the bedroom and got into [VICTIM #1]’s face screaming at which time their daughter/ [REDACTED BY AGENCY] came into the room and tried to get between [VICTIM #1] and Phillip. Phillip turned his attention to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and got nose to nose with her at which time [VICTIM #1] felt [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was in danger of receiving physical harm so she jumped up from the bed and pushed Phillip away from [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] both stated they felt they were in danger of receiving physical harm from Phillip at that time.
[VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] retreated into the hallway were they were joined by victim/ [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] whom came into the hallway because of all of the screaming. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] tried to talk to Phillip and calm him down however Phillip so irate he started pointing at everyone individually saying (I’ll kill you) and said he would stomp [REDACTED BY AGENCY] face to death. All of the children and [VICTIM #1] retreated into a bedroom and closed the door locking it and standing against it to keep Phillip out. Phillip started beating on the door and wall trying to gain entry into the room.
I spoke with Phillip whom made a similar statement as [VICTIM #1] except he said that during the argument between him and [VICTIM #1] he got hit in the face by [VICTIM #1] and then her and the kids ran into the bedroom. Phillip said he became irate at that point and punched the wall in frustration that [VICTIM #1] had punched him in the face.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] all agreed with [VICTIM #1]’s recollection of the incident and how the events unfolded. I observed swelling on the side of Phillip’s face and red marks on his knuckles. I also observed a hole in the wall where [VICTIM #1] and the kids were hiding. The hole in the wall appeared to be consistent with the same size hole and height that would have occurred if Phillip had headbutted the wall. Based on all the information provided to me Phillip was placed under arrest for Cruelty to children in the 1st degree 4 counts, terroristic threats and acts 5 counts, simple assault 2 counts, and criminal trespass damage to property. Phillip was transported to the Bartow County Jail for processing without further incident. [VICTIM #1] and the children were given pamphlets and advised on the bonding procedure and resources available to them.
