On Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 1729 hours, I was dispatched to the area of Iron Hill Rd/Old Alabama Rd in reference to a domestic incident. The caller reported that a female had approached them and claimed that her husband had just thrown her out of their vehicle.

Upon arrival, I met with several witnesses on scene. The first witness, [WITNESS #1], stated she had just returned home when she observed a female, later identified as [VICTIM #1], trying to conceal herself in some tall brush nearby. When she went to check on [VICTIM #1], she learned that [VICTIM #1] was injured after being pushed out of a vehicle.

[WITNESS #2] and [WITNESS #3] were driving on the roadway near this intersection when they first encountered [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #2] stated [VICTIM #1] looked as if she was trying to hide behind wooden poles when vehicles passed by her. When [WITNESS #2] and [WITNESS #3] made contact with [VICTIM #1], she told them that she was scared and she had just been pushed out of a vehicle.

I made contact with [VICTIM #1], who stated she and her husband, Robert Byars, were arguing, which turned physical. [VICTIM #1] stated Robert shoved her out of their vehicle as it was moving. [VICTIM #1] also claimed that Robert had hit her in the face; however, it was disclosed that this incident happened several days prior at their residence in Floyd County, GA. I observed various physical injuries to [VICTIM #1], including scratches to her neck, chest, face, arms, and legs. All of these injuries appeared to be consistent with falling onto pavement.

As I was investigating this incident, a bystander, [WITNESS #4], approached and informed deputies of a suspicious vehicle he had noticed at a new construction/vacant lot down the roadway (next to [500 BLOCK] Iron Hill Rd). This vehicle, a silver Jeep Cherokee (GA Tag # [REDACTED]), was located abandoned on the lot. A GCIC check on the vehicle revealed the registered owner as [VICTIM #1]’s husband, Robert Byars.

[WITNESS #1] stated she observed this same vehicle just moments before making contact with [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated she saw a male standing outside of the vehicle.

Robert was later located by Deputy Bowden and Deputy Giorgione and was placed under arrest. Robert was transported to the Bartow County Jail, where he was released to jail staff. I obtained a warrant on Robert for aggravated assault FVA.

[VICTIM #1] did not wish to take possession of the vehicle, and it was inventoried and towed by Matthew’s Garage.
