[NARRATIVE #1 on March 19, 2026]
On March 19th, 2026 I was dispatched to [4300 BLOCK] Navajo Lane in reference to a domestic disturbance. The suspect had fled prior to arrival.
Upon my arrival I met with Robert Smith in the front yard of the residence. Robert stated his wife, Melissa Smith, had assaulted him. Robert and Melissa had been in a verbal argument and Melissa grabbed the metal pipe they keep inside the sliding door. Robert said Melissa hit the arm of the lawn chair with the pipe he was sitting in first. Melissa then hit him across the back with the pipe.
The arm of the lawn chair was broken into several pieces. Robert estimated the chair to be worth approximately $20. Robert did have visible markings on his back that were consistent with being hit with a pipe. Robert’s injuries and the damage to the chair were photographed using Deputy Roger’s body worn camera. Melissa left the scene prior to my arrival. Melissa Roberts will be charged with Aggravated Assault and Criminal Trespass-Damage to Property both under the Family Violence Act.

[NARRATIVE #2 on March 22, 2026]
On Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, at 1336 hours, I conducted a warrant service at [4300 BLOCK] Navajo Lane, in Acworth, Georgia, for the person of Melissa Smith, who was wanted for Aggravated Assault and Criminal Trespass- Damage to Property under the Family Violence Act.
Upon my arrival, I knocked on the front door and was met by Robert Smith. I asked Robert about the whereabouts of Melissa and he told me she was in Alabama. I advised him that I had a Felony Warrant for her arrest and would enter his residence to ensure that Melissa was not present, and that was when he told me she was inside of the residence.
After entering the residence, I loudly announced my presence by yelling “Sheriff’s Office” in the door frame of the bedroom Melissa was located with no response. It was only after entering the bedroom and locating Melissa hiding in the closet that she made her presence known, and she was placed under arrest. As I made contact with her, she said multiple times that she was told to hide in the closet by her husband, which is Robert.
Because of Robert’s deceptiveness in attempting to conceal Melissa by lying to law enforcement about her presence, he was placed under arrest for Hindering Apprehension or Punishment of a Criminal. Melissa was placed under arrest for Obstruction because she was hiding in the closet upon contact with law enforcement in an attempt to conceal herself.
Both Melissa and Robert were transported to The Bartow County Detention Center.
