On 11/27/2025 at 1522 hours, I dispatched myself and Deputy Bowden 964 out at 5631 Hwy 20 NE, Cartersville, GA, 30121, in the homeless camp behind the QT gas station in reference to an attempt to locate a subject for warrant service.

Deputy Bowden and I went on foot upon arrival because the homeless camp could not be reached in a vehicle. Upon arrival at the homeless camp, we see what looks like Ronald Edwards, the suspect we were looking for, who was actively wanted for violation of probation- felony, and failure to register as a sex offender. Upon making contact with Ronald, Deputy Bowden asks for his name to confirm that he is the man we are speaking to.

After confirmation, Deputy Bowden tells Ronald that he has warrants out for his arrest. At this time, Ronald stated, “Sorry, I ain’t going, you heard me, I’m not going.” Deputy Bowden told Ronald that he was, in fact, going to go with us and told Ronald to put the shovel down. Ronald refused to put the shovel down. Deputy Bowden told Ronald again to put the shovel down, and Ronald refused again. After the second refusal, Ronald grabs the shovel with both of his hands in an aggressive manner and pulls it up to his waist in a fighting stance. At this time, Deputy Bowden and I drew our duty weapons and held Ronald at gunpoint, and commanded him to put the shovel down. Soon after this, Ronald tosses the shovel toward the ground in front of him in the direction of Deputy Bowden. Deputy Bowden and I continue to give commands for Ronald to comply by putting his hands on his head. Ronald put both of his hands behind his back. I holster my weapon and put handcuffs on Ronald. No injuries were sustained during this incident.

Ronald was transported to the Bartow County Jail by me.

I charged Ronald with two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer.
