On Sunday, June 28, 2026, at approximately 0804 hours, I was dispatched to [400 BLOCK] Mountain Chase Dr for a trespassing in progress. Upon my arrival, I spoke to the victim who stated her ex-boyfriend, identified as Mr. Shamus Thomas that she previously lived with, stole her phone while she was at 1144 N Tennessee St (Citgo) and followed her to [400 BLOCK] Mountain Chase Dr.
Victim stated while at the Citgo, Mr. Thomas reached through the passenger window, unlocked the door, forcefully opened the door, and entered her vehicle (gray 2025 Honda Accord bearing tag). Victim informed me that once Mr. Thomas was in her vehicle, she grabbed her phone and key with her left hand to keep Mr. Thomas from getting her key and phone. Victim advised me that Mr. Thomas grabbed her by her neck and squeezed and pulled her to him. Victim informed me that when Mr. Thomas squeezed her neck, she felt like she could not breathe. I noticed Victim had red marks on her neck that appeared to be hand prints. Pictures were taken. Victim stated Mr. Thomas snatched her phone from her. Victim informed me that a couple of minutes Mr. Thomas exited her vehicle.
Victim stated when Mr. Thomas exited her vehicle she left and went to [400 BLOCK] Mountain Chase Dr. Victim stated Mr. Thomas followed her to Mountain Chase. Victim informed me that after a few minutes of Mr. Thomas knocking on the garage door, he left the scene. Victim stated Mr. Thomas refused to return her phone. I viewed video footage of the incident at Citgo.
On the footage, I noticed Mr. Thomas at the passenger window outside of Victim vehicle. I watched Mr. Thomas attempt to open the passenger door a couple of times, but the door appeared to be locked. I watched Mr. Thomas reach through the window, unlock the passenger door, open the in a jerking motion, and enter the vehicle. I noticed while Victim and Mr. Thomas was inside the vehicle, it appears Victim head is pulled toward the passenger side of the vehicle. After a few minutes, I noticed Mr. Thomas exit the vehicle with a phone in his hand that was not in his hand when he entered the vehicle.
Mr. Thomas was located at [20 BLOCK] Wingfoot Trl. Warrants were obtained for aggravated assault strangulation FVA (CE-0182020), robbery sudden snatch FVA (CE-0182021), and entering auto FVA (CE-0182022).
I arrived at [20 BLOCK] Wingfoot Trl and noticed Mr. Thomas was at Victim vehicle with her inside. I placed Mr. Thomas into handcuffs behind the back, checked for fit, and double locked for safety. I read Mr. Thomas Miranda Rights to which he stated he understood and was still willing to speak to me. Mr. Thomas stated he did take Victim phone but did not put his hands on her. A search of Mr. Thomas was conducted yielding negative of contraband or weapons. I placed Mr. Thomas into the back of my marked patrol vehicle which is searched before and after transport yielding negative of contraband.
