On July 3rd, 2026, at approximately 1554 hours, I responded to [30 BLOCK] Planters Drive in reference to a domestic dispute.

While en route to the scene, I was notified by Bartow County 911 that the caller, Ms. [VICTIM #1], stated that her husband, Mr. Taylor Slusher, had a knife and was threatening “suicide by cop”.

Upon arrival at the residence, I observed Taylor walking around the right side of the house with an object in his hand, yelling, “Pull that trigger”. While I was standing at the end of the driveway, Taylor began to approach me in an irate, offensive manner, shouting “shoot me” several times while producing a large fixed blade knife pointed in my direction. I unholstered my department-issued Glock G45 and pointed at him while giving him several verbal commands to drop the knife. Taylor stopped his approach towards me but still held the knife in his hands. After spending approximately 4 minutes negotiating with Taylor to drop the knife, he put the knife in his pocket and raised his hands in the air, showing me that his hands were empty.

A short time later, Deputy Brand arrived on the scene, where Taylor again produced the knife from his pocket. After shouting to Deputy Brand to get less-lethal force ready, Taylor put the knife back into his pocket, which gave Deputy Brand an opportunity to successfully deploy his taser, causing him to fall face-first into the driveway. Upon the approach of Taylor, I successfully placed Taylor in handcuffs and secured the knife in the rear hatch of my patrol car. Taylor sustained a large cut on his forehead from falling onto the concrete driveway.

While Metro EMS was rendering aid to Taylor, I spoke with the caller, Ms. [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that Taylor suffers from several mental health disorders, and she began to feel unsafe around him. [VICTIM #1] advised me that she had given him divorce papers earlier in the day, which made Taylor extremely upset. She advised me that while they were in the backyard arguing over the divorce, Taylor produced the knife and pointed it at her, which made her walk backward away from him because she was in fear that he was going to stab her. She stated that when she had called 911, Taylor stated to her that he was going to kill himself and that if law enforcement arrived on the scene, he would make them shoot him.

I transported Taylor without incident to Cartersville Piedmont Hospital, where he was evaluated before being transported to the Bartow County Jail. Warrants for Taylor were secured for 2 counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, 1 count of aggravated assault FVA, and 1 count of possession of a knife during the commission of a felony

[VICTIM #1]’s father, [REDACTED], who was inside the residence at the time of the incident, provided me with video footage from a security camera on the exterior of the residence. A citizen upload link has been sent to him for the camera footage.

The knife that Taylor possessed has been entered as evidence. A use-of-force report has also been completed.
