On Friday September 5th, 2025 at approximately 2118 hours I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Mundy St Acworth, GA 30101 in reference to a domestic disturbance that was called in as physical.
Upon arrival I made contact with the victim [VICTIM #1] outside of the residence. She stated she and her live in boyfriend Terrence Cheek were arguing regarding her vehicle. Terrence was demanding [VICTIM #1] to hand over the keys to her car. Terrence became enraged and allegedly grabbed [VICTIM #1] by the throat with his hands and lifted her off the ground. He then slammed her over the top of the couch and over onto the ground where she hit her head.
[VICTIM #1] claims Terrence then went to the kitchen and grabbed a large butcher’s knife. Terrence then walked up to [VICTIM #1] within arms reach holding the knife. Terrence then said, “You have 5 seconds to give me the keys. Don’t make me do this, you’re going to regret it” while holding the knife in his hand.
While Terrence was distracted looking for the keys [VICTIM #1] gathered her three children [REDACTED BY AGENCY] year old [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY] year old [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] year old [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and took them outside. Terrence then stepped outside with a “long, screw driver like” object in his hand. Terrence repeatedly told [VICTIM #1] that she “better get in the house”. [VICTIM #1] refused because she knew something bad would happen to her.
[VICTIM #1] stated she was fearful for her life during the altercation and truly thought Terrence would kill her. While demanding [VICTIM #1] return inside Terrence could hear sirens in the distance and took off back inside the residence. I did not question the juveniles on scene but they stated several times allowed that they witnessed Terrence with a knife threatening their mother [VICTIM #1].
Other units arrived on scene and the residence was searched and cleared. Terrence was no longer on scene.
[VICTIM #1] was provided with a domestic violence pamphlet and given information on obtaining а ТРО. [VICTIM #1] left the residence with her children to stay at another location. [VICTIM #1] had red marks on her left shoulder, right cheek bone, back of her neck and the left side of her neck which were all photographed.
At approximately 2332 hours Bartow 911 received a tip that Terrence was back at the residence at [100 BLOCK] Mundy St. Units arrived on scene and I secured warrants for Terrence’s arrest. Units cleared the residence once more and Terrence was not located.
Shortly thereafter, Bartow 911 received another tip that Terrence was running into the woods behind the residence from the next street over. Several units, including myself, began swarming the area in the woods. Terrence was spotted lying down, attempting to hide and was taken into custody without incident. Terrence was transported to the Bartow County Jail and custody turned over to jail staff.
While at the jail, Terrence was read his Miranda Warning and agreed to speak with me. Terrence stated he was upset with [VICTIM #1] because she allowed her mother to use the Jeep and he had plans on using the vehicle. Terrence claims he was upset but never was physical with [VICTIM #1]. Terrence also stated he never threatened [VICTIM #1] with a knife. He stated he picked up a knife to put it in the sink but never used it to intimidate or threaten. He also claims he never choked [VICTIM #1] or slammed her onto the ground.
Terrence was charged with Aggravated Assault (Strangulation), Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon and Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree (X3) for each child who witnessed the assault.
