On Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at approximately 2353 hours, I was dispatched to [300 BLOCK] South Bartow Street in reference to a domestic disturbance that had occurred at [10 BLOCK] Green Ives Lane.

Upon arrival, I met with the victim who had noticeable injuries to her face and had what appeared to be blood from the left side of her face. Victim stated she had been attacked by her husband, Terry Earwood, at their residence after asking for her cellular phone. Officers relocated to the incident location to try to make contact with Mr. Earwood.

Once on scene, a side door was observed to be open to the residence. Multiple attempts to make contact with Mr. Earwood were unsuccessful. Officers would announce their presence loudly to anyone inside the residence, to no avail. A perimeter check of the home revealed that the rear door was open as well. Due to the nature of the call and knowing a physical altercation had taken place, a protective sweep was conducted to check the well-being of Mr. Earwood. Officers would announce once again, Cartersville Police, if your inside the residence, make yourself known approximately 3 times, with no response inside the residence. Entrance was made into the residence through the open door on the side of the home. During the sweep, a male subject was observed on a bed in a rear bedroom, appearing to be asleep.

The male subject, Mr. Earwood, was seen lying on the bed with what looked like dry blood on the left side of his face, while clutching alcoholic beverages in his hands. Officers observed two (2) knives lying in proximity to Mr. Earwood on the bed. Due to the physical nature of the call, Lieutenant B.Y. Cole and I displayed our department-issued firearms and instructed Mr. Earwood to show us his hands. Mr. Earwood sat up on the bed, and at this time, I reholstered my department-issued firearm and Officer N.H. Clanton and I placed Mr. Earwood into custody. Mr. Earwood was placed under arrest with handcuffs behind the back, double locked, and checked for proper fit.

Mr. Earwood was escorted out of the home and placed into the rear seat of Officer Clanton’s issued patrol vehicle. Mr. Earwood was read Miranda Warning and stated he would like to speak with officers. Mr. Earwood was asked about the incident and stated he was attacked and just needed to go take care of his mother. Mr. Earwood was transported to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, where he was released to jail staff.

I relocated back to [300 BLOCK] South Bartow Street to escort Victim back to her residence and get a complete statement of what had occurred. Victim stated she had woken in bed and asked Mr. Earwood where her cellular phone was. Victim stated she had to ask several times as Mr. Earwood did not answer. Victim stated she tapped Mr. Earwood on the foot, and he awoke and became irate and started striking her with a closed fist. Victim stated Mr. Earwood struck her numerous times before she fell to the ground and was struck again. Victim stated that Mr. Earwood then placed his hand around her throat, and she felt as though she could not breathe. Victim right eye appeared to be swollen, along with a knot on her forehead. Officers would observe scratch marks along with red marks consistent with grabbing one’s throat on Victim throat area. Victim had dry blood on the left side of her face as well.

Victim was asked if she wanted to be evaluated by Metro EMS, to which she stated yes. Once Metro EMS arrived on scene, Victim declined to be transported against medical advice.

Victim injuries were photographed on Lieutenant Cole’s BWC.

Warrants were obtained for Aggravated Assault-Strangulation, Battery- FVA. Copies were attached to the report. The Victim Notification form was attached as well.
