On November 2, 2025, at approximately 1439 hours, I, Sgt. George Witherspoon, responded to [1000 BLOCK] Edna Place in reference to an assault. Community Ambulance dispatch informed Macon-Bibb 911 that they received a call from [WITNESS #1], who reported that her brother had been assaulted with a baseball bat.

Upon contacting Ms. [WITNESS #1] by phone, she stated that around 1330 hours, she found her brother, [VICTIM #1], lying on the floor inside his residence near the front door. She advised that her brother told her earlier this date, between approximately 0230 and 0300 hours, an unknown male assaulted him with a baseball bat in the parking lot of 3484 Napier Avenue (Exxon). At the victim’s request, Ms. [WITNESS #1] contacted EMS, as he believed his right leg was broken.

Upon arrival, I observed [VICTIM #1] lying in the same location described by his sister. He confirmed the statements previously provided by Ms. [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] further stated that her brother, who has a speech impediment and suffers from a mental disorder, has been known to steal on occasion. She expressed her belief that he may have taken something from the suspect and that the suspect could possibly be someone known to him. However, [VICTIM #1] stated he did not know the identity of the male who struck him. No additional suspect information is available at this time.

Investigator Bridger was contacted and advised of the incident. He stated he would conduct a follow-up investigation. EMS arrived on scene and transported [VICTIM #1] to Piedmont Hospital (Main) for further evaluation.

This incident has been turned over to CID for further investigation.
