On the report date, I, Deputy P.F. Smith, along with additional Deputies, responded to the 425 Cherry Street, Macon, GA on a person robbed call.
Upon arrival, several people were milling outside of the business as the responding Deputies were attempting to apprehend the suspect.
During this time, a white male subject, later identified as Phelps, Colby (DOB [REDACTED BY AGENCY]) repeatedly approached the Deputies, interfering with the escalating investigation of an armed suspect.
Deputy Diaz repeatedly instructed Phelps to remove himself from the scene, however Phelps continued to approach Deputies.
This Deputy approached Phelps, who was belligerent and intoxicated, and directly commanded him to remove himself from the scene. Phelps responded that “I am standing on a sidewalk that I paid for with my taxes, and I can stand here if I want to!” This Deputy again told Phelps that he was intoxicated and needed to leave the scene. Phelps stated, “What are you going to do to make me leave?” This Deputy informed Phelps that if he did not leave the area, he would be arrested for Disorderly Conduct/Public Intoxication and Obstruction. Phelps again refused to leave. At that time, this Deputy arrested Phelps.
Phelps was transported to the LEC and booked in without further incident.
This Deputy will seek warrants in conjunction with this arrest.
