On 4/19/2026 at 1049 hours I Deputy Mattox was patrolling the area of Pio Nono Ave. Macon, Georgia, in a marked patrol unit. I was alerted via FLOCK to a stolen vehicle at Pio Nono Ave. & Glendale Ave. Macon, GA. I observed the vehicle parked beside the Arby’s near Rocky Creek Rd. Macon, GA. I notified Cpl. F. Gray and I attempted to make contact with the vehicle.
When we attempted to make contact, the driver, later identified as Mr. Darryl Singletary, closed the driver’s door and fled. We attempted to stop him using lights and sirens, and he continued to drive. We entered the I-75 N from Pio Nono Ave northbound lane. Mr. Singletary, while on the interstate, began to weave in and out of lanes, traveled at a high rate of speed, and almost caused multiple accidents. He attempted to ram Sgt. Witherspoon, Cpl. Gray and Lt. Inzar’s vehicle when they were attempting to protect motorists. When Cpl. Gray first attempted to PIT(Precision Immobilization Technique) Mr. Singletary, who almost came to a complete stop, causing Cpl. Gray to strike the rear of his vehicle.
GSP, CTE, and Monroe entered the chase. Monroe County was able to successfully spike the vehicle. However, Mr. Singletary kept driving on the metal rim. GSP attempted to PIT the vehicle multiple times, but they were unsuccessful due to it being a Ford F15 panel van. Mr. Singletary attempted to ram GSP Trooper Brock multiple times. Monroe County Deputy J. Sanders attempted to spike again, and Mr. Singletary attempted to hit Deputy J. Sanders with the vehicle. CTE then attempted a pit maneuver multiple times. Mr. Singletary attempted to ram CTE Officer R. Peterson. On CTE Officer Peterson’s third attempt, it was successful and pinned the vehicle to the guardrail.
Mr. Singletary refused to show his hands, quit moving around the truck, and refused to open the door. With a shield team with Monroe, Cpl. Gray and I were able to bust the window. I unlocked the door, and Mr. Singletary had a knife in his hand. Cpl. Gray moved into position, and I opened the door, then Cpl. Gray tased him. We were able to remove him from the vehicle and take him into custody.
EMS responded to the scene and transported Mr. Singletary to the hospital. Cpl. Gray rode with the ambulance and Dep. Benton followed him. Kitchens towing arrived on scene and towed the stolen vehicle to their lot, and Cpl. Gray’s marked unit to the city shop.
Throughout the whole chase, Mr. Singletary almost hit multiple bystanders’ vehicles. He continued to travel at a high rate of speed with constant jerking of the steering wheel from one lane to the other. He left the roadway multiple times due to his erratic driving. Warrants will be signed for Mr. Singletary.
