On 8/8/23 I responded to Atrium Hospital in reference to an Aggravated Assault that occurred at [300 BLOCK] Forest Hill Rd. Upon my arrival I made contact with Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Mrs. [VICTIM #2]. The [VICTIMS] stated that David Pope came on their property and attacked them.
Mrs. [VICTIM #2] stated that she runs a yawn shop in the back of their residence. Mr. Pope entered the store and told Mrs. [VICTIM #2] that his father just died and he needed to use the phone. At that time Mr. Pope started toward Mrs. [VICTIM #2], but before Mr. Pope could grab her phone, she was able to call Mr. [VICTIM #1] who was at home at the time. Mr. Pope ran over and attack Mrs. [VICTIM #2]. She said that she was trying to cover up her head and face and she was kicking Mr. Pope. During that time they fell to ground and Mr. Pope was hitting Mrs. [VICTIM #2] in the head with his fist. Mrs. [VICTIM #2] stated that she felt like her life was in danger. Afterwards, Mrs. [VICTIM #2] said that Mr. Pope got up and left the store.
At that time Mr. [VICTIM #1] was headed to the store to check on Mrs. [VICTIM #2]. He saw Mr. Pope and asked him “what the fu*k are you doing”. At that time, Mr. Pope asked Mr. [VICTIM #1] “what the fu*k was he doing”. Mr. [VICTIM #1] said that he was going to the store to check on his wife. As he was walking pass Mr. Pope, Mr. Pope hit him in the mouth with his fist. At that time, Mr. [VICTIM #1] swung back and hit Mr. Pope. they got into a brief struggle and Mr. [VICTIM #1] ended on top of Mr. Pope. After Mr. [VICTIM #1] was able to get a few licks in, Mr. Pope manage to get up and run through the bushes behind the store. At that time Mr. [VICTIM #1] and Mrs. [VICTIM #2] went into their house and locked the door. When they looked outside to see if they saw Mr. Pope, his truck was gone.
While headed to [300 BLOCK] Forest Hill Rd, Deputy Medina notice Mr. Pope leaving the residence and she tried to perform a traffic stop but Mr. Pope did not stop. I engaged Deputy Medina and Mr. Pope and the corner of Forest Hill Rd and The Radio. We pursued Mr. Pope all the way back to his residence at [200 BLOCK] Coring Ave. At that time he was taken into custody and escorted to the Hospital.
