On September 21, 2025 at 1635 hours I, Sgt. M. Dorough, was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] Park View Ct, in reference to a domestic dispute. While en route, there were CAD notes the male was slamming his mother against the wall and blood everywhere.
Upon arrival, I met with a witness, [WITNESS #1], who stated this house belongs to his mother, [WITNESS #2]. He came over to pick up his daughter. While inside the home, he heard something outside and found the suspect, found to be Dean Simmons, standing by the screen porch door. Originally, [WITNESS #1] was armed with a firearm but put the weapon up when he saw that Dean, who was completely naked, rolling around on the ground. [WITNESS #1] kept an eye on Dean for 5-10 minutes when the neighbors, [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] (parents of Dean Simmons), walked outside to find their son.
As they stood near Dean, Dean aggressively jumped up and ran towards his parents, knocking his father over injuring him on yard decorations. He grabbed his mother by her shoulders, bit her left cheek just below her left eye, while slamming her against the brick wall. This cause abrasions to her back and bleeding from her head.
[WITNESS #1], seeing the elderly parents were feeble and Dean slamming her against the wall, he grabbed a baseball bat off the porch and struck Dean several times before he would let go of [VICTIM #2]. [WITNESS #1] stated he noticed the first strike made a difference but Dean would not get off [VICTIM #2] so he struck him several more times before he actually let go. Dean rolled around on the ground for a minute before jumping up, and running off towards the woodline. Dean is still naked at this time.
By the time I arrived on scene, EMS was tending to [VICTIM #2]. Seeing that she was in good hands and didn’t need emergency services, and knowing Dean was close by, I walked towards the woodline he was last seen to place him in custody. As I walked through the back yard of [VICTIM #1] residence, I noticed Dean was laying near an enclosed storage area of the house. Giving his prior, aggressive behavior, I quietly placed him in handcuffs not to spook him, and cause him to go into another rage. This was for officer safety.
I was able to place him in handcuffs, pick him up, and walk him up the hill. I started to get physically tired and went to sit him down so I could get a break. As I did, he started to kick me in the upper leg, so I dropped him, kicked him one time in the back, and told him not to kick me again. He was still partially incoherent during this time but did say something just before striking me.
Seeing that he kicked me once, I asked [WITNESS #1] to grab his legs so we could carry Dean safely up the hill without further assault. As we approached the covered porch, I sat him down again for a break and to see if EMS could tend to him. Dean had a gash to his head and bruising to his body where he was struck with the baseball bat.
From here, Dean needed a mental/medical evaluation due to his strange behavior, not being coherent, and injuries. [VICTIM #2] decided to have someone take her to the hospital, freeing up the ambulance for Dean. He was strapped to the gurney and transported to Atrium Health.
Once in the ambulance, I spoke with [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #1] inside [WITNESS #2]’s home. [VICTIM #2] stated they noticed Dean was missing and heard a noise outside. They walked out and saw their son nude next door so they walked over to check on him. Dean jumped up, shoving [VICTIM #1] down, and biting her face as he pushed her against the wall. I asked if he slammed her but she could not remember. This could be due to the serious traumatic event that just occurred and how quickly it happened. [WITNESS #1] was a witness and was very clear that Dean slammed her multiple times while biting her face. This is consistent with [VICTIM #2]’s testimony. She also said that [VICTIM #1] was knocked over as well.
I spoke to [VICTIM #1] who showed me bruising to his shoulder and scratch to his left cheek. [VICTIM #2]’s head was wrapped up due to a laceration when she was attacked. I did not photo document her head as I did not want to unwrap the wound. I did photo document [VICTIM #1]’s face and shoulder and [VICTIM #2]’s face and back. The blood droppings and knocked over decorations where they were attacked were also photo documented.
I spoke to [WITNESS #2] who stated she lives at [200 BLOCK] Park View Ct. She was standing near the kitchen window when she Dean standing by the screen porch nude. She saw [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #1] walk over, and saw Dean attack them near the corner wall by the kitchen. She was able to clearly see this from the window.
Based off the evidence, statements, and injuries, a warrant for aggravated assault fv and battery fv will be signed and turned over to Atrium Health to hold Dean until release. Due to the nature of the attack, [WITNESS #1] quick actions, with the bat, to save [VICTIM #2] from even more serious bodily injury were justified.
Dean will be transported to the Bibb County LEC after his release from the hospital.
