On November 13, 2025, I, Deputy Robinson, responded to 2014 Riverside Drive in reference to a domestic disturbance.
Upon myarrival, Lieutenant Surfus instructed me to remain at the corner and observe both the top and bottom levels of the stairs due to a door that the suspect could potentially exit. I observed Lieutenant Surfus and Deputy Carter positioned at the doorway with their firearms drawn. I could hear Lieutenant Surfus giving verbal commands to have the suspect exit the residence.
After hearing Lieutenant Surfus speak with the suspect and begin to gain compliance, I holstered my firearm and approached the location. Lieutenant Surfus then instructed me to draw my Taser while Deputy Carter continued to maintain his firearm on the suspect. Lieutenant Surfus informed the suspect that we had received a call regarding a male subject armed with a knife.
He then asked the suspect if he was armed with a knife, and the suspect stated, “Yes, it’s in my left or right pocket.” He continued verbal de-escalation and ordered the suspect, identified as Mr. Grant, to get on the ground so he could be detained. Mr. Grant complied, going to the ground and lying on his stomach as instructed.
I then holstered my Taser and approached to provide my handcuffs to Lieutenant Surfus so that Mr. Grant could be secured and further information about the incident could be gathered. Lieutenant Surfus advised me that the female involved was in the hallway and instructed me to step into the foyer to speak with her.
I entered the residence and contacted Ms. [VICTIM #1]. I asked Ms. [VICTIM #1] to explain what had occurred. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she and Mr. Grant were sleeping when she woke up and asked him to move over. She reported that Mr. Grant became very irate and told her she could go sleep in another room.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that Mr. Grant then pushed her to the ground and began choking her. She stated that Mr. Grant said, “It’s over now, bit*h. I’m about to do it.” Ms. [VICTIM #1] further reported that Mr. Grant attempted to break her neck by placing her in a headlock, wrapping his arms around her neck, and trying to snap it. She stated that he also punched her in the face repeatedly and slapped her multiple times.
I reviewed a video showing Mr. Grant pushing Ms. [VICTIM #1], grabbing her by the neck, and throwing her to the ground. I also observed a scratch near her left eye, which she stated occurred when Mr. Grant put a knife to her head. I observed a knot above her right eye, along with red marks and scratches around her neck. Ms. [VICTIM #1] also had a cut on her left hand, and her lips were busted with dried blood present. Due to the extent of her injuries, I requested EMS to respond and evaluate her.
Based upon the evidence, Mr. Grant was transported to the Bibb County LEC.
