On Friday, February 13, 2026, I, Sgt. Christopher Collis responded to [2600 BLOCK] Pierce Dr N (Boarding House) to meet with [VICTIM #1] regarding a disturbance involving another resident, James David Wade Jr.

Upon arrival, I made contact with Ms. [VICTIM #1] outside the boarding house. Ms. [VICTIM #1] was hysterically shaking and stated that Wade hit her during an argument, then threatened to harm her if she called 911. Ms. [VICTIM #1] said that Wade was in his room, which is located just inside the front entry door to the left.

As I walked towards the house to meet with Wade, Ms. [VICTIM #1] approached the homeowner, [WITNESS #1], who had just arrived on the scene. As I walked into the house, I noticed a female in the kitchen washing dishes. She stated that she also resided in the home and pointed me toward Wade’s room. Later on, she would tell me that Ms. [VICTIM #1] was the one harassing Wade and not the other way around.

As I turned to knock on Wade’s bedroom door, the homeowner [WITNESS #1] introduced himself to me. I knocked on Wade’s door twice as I announced, “Sheriff’s Office”, in a loud voice. Wade eventually came to the door, and we started talking. Wade stated that he had no issues with anyone in the home and was just in his room, relaxing.

I walked down to Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s room and asked her to step out into the hallway so that I could talk to both of them. I asked Ms. [VICTIM #1] what the issue was between her and Wade. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that Wade said she owed him money. I learned that Wade purchased multiple household items for Ms. [VICTIM #1], costing him around $500.00. Wade said he was not worried about the money and was just trying to help Ms. [VICTIM #1].

While I was talking to Ms. [VICTIM #1] and Wade, Mr. [WITNESS #1] asked the other deputy on the scene if he could speak to us privately. I told Ms. [VICTIM #1] and Wade to stay apart while we spoke with Mr. [WITNESS #1]. We followed Mr. [WITNESS #1] outside to the parking lot.

Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated that Ms. [VICTIM #1] has seizures, and Wade is a heavy drinker. [WITNESS #1] went on to say that Wade gets aggressive with the other residents in the home when he gets drunk. Earlier that day, Wade told Mr. [WITNESS #1] he wanted to grab Ms. [VICTIM #1] by the throat and throw her into the woods because she keeps annoying him.

As we were talking to Mr. [WITNESS #1], Wade came out of the house and approached us. Wade started talking to us about Ms. [VICTIM #1] and how he has helped her. During my discussion with Wade, he said that he recently started drinking again after five months of sobriety. When I asked how much alcohol he drank, Wade said that he could drink a six-pack in a bout two hours.

They noticed a change in Wade’s demeanor as we continued speaking. Wade became belligerent and started talking about his military history and how he could handle a problem. Then Wade grew increasingly angry and, at one point, stepped towards me, and I told him to back off.

As Wade’s anger grew, he started walking away. I told him that he did not have the right to leave while we were investigating the claim of assault, and he did not have the right to act like an a*shole towards us for doing our job. Wade briefly calmed down, but started right back at us with a raised voice, then started cursing again.

At one point, Wade attempted to walk away again, so I detained him. Wade’s demeanor did not improve, and he started calling me a “nig*er”. When Mr. [WITNESS #1] returned with some water for Wade, Wade kept saying the “n” word and was asked by [WITNESS #1] to stop. Wade made the comment that “nig*er is an ignorant motherfu*ker according to Webster’s Dictionary”. Wade attempted to get back up and leave. I told him at that time he was under arrest for disorderly conduct. Wade pulled back and stopped in protest as I escorted him to my patrol car.

On the way to the Bibb County LEC, Wade calmed down. Upon arrival at the jail, Wade started yelling and cursing at me once again, so I activated my county-issued body-worn camera. While we were waiting for access into the jail, Wade once again started walking towards me as he called me the “n” word and a “kike”.

At one point, Wade started walking away. I grabbed Wade by the arm, directed him towards the entry door, and told him to stand there and not to move. Wade was quiet for a brief moment, then looked at meandtold me that if I put my hands on him again, he would dive down and whip my as, followed by the statement that he was going to beat my monkey as as he walked right back towards me. Wade attempted to strike me with his knee, so I grabbed him with my free hand and pushed him into the entry door. I instructed Wade to stop, but he kept yelling and cursing. Wade became increasingly angrier.

Once we were inside the sally port, Wade continued coming towards me, and I told him multiple times to stop as I put my hand out and pushed him back. Because Wade had already attempted to hit me in the bay, I did not want him getting close enough to try again. When jail personnel opened the final door, allowing us entry into the booking area, I grabbed Wade by his arm and walked him down the hallway towards the intake table. When I stopped at the red line, I turned Wade towards me and told him to stand against the wall and not move.

Wade was still calling me the “n” word, then out of nowhere, he kicked me in the inner part of my thigh and groin with his left foot. Without any hesitation, I punched Wade in the left side of his face with a closed fist, causing a laceration to his lip. I ordered Wade to the ground so that he could not kick me again. Jail personnel heard the disturbance and came to investigate.

Wade’s demeanor changed instantaneously, and he was cooperative from that moment on. I assisted Wade from the ground and removed his handcuffs. Wade did not attempt to fight further and was escorted to the intake nurse to have his injury checked. Wade initially told the nurse he had fallen while entering the jail. I told him not to lie to the nurse. Wade was treated for a minor injury to his mouth from the ordeal.

I contacted my chain of command and made them aware of the incident. I also submitted a use-of-force report with this report. I charged Wade with disorderly conduct and battery on a law enforcement officer. I did not charge Wade with assault on Ms. [VICTIM #1] due to a lack of evidence.

This case is closed by arrest.
