On 12/08/2025, ACO II [REDACTED] requested my assistance regarding an animal cruelty case at [1000 BLOCK] Dewey Street, Macon, GA 31206. Upon my arrival, [REDACTED] briefed me on the situation.
[REDACTED] advised that he had received a call for service concerning a canine with scabs on its face and in overall poor condition. When [REDACTED] arrived on scene, he observed in plain view a dog lying next to an inoperable vehicle on top of a blue tarp. [REDACTED] then made contact with the dog’s owner, Mr. Bryant.
[REDACTED] observed that the canine had scabs covering its face, as well as open sores in both ears. The dog was underweight, presenting as a 2 out of 9 on the Purina Body Condition Scale. The animal was infested with fleas and appeared to be in the end stage of heartworm disease.
I spoke with Bryant, who stated the following: He has owned the dog, named Jessica, for approximately two years. The animal has never been seen by a veterinarian. Bryant reported that about two weeks ago, the dog was involved in a fight with his other canine, which was not on scene. He acknowledged that he knew the animal was seriously injured but failed to seek any veterinary care. As a result, the dog has been suffering ongoing pain from its untreated injuries. The canine’s right front leg had multiple open wounds, both new and old. The animal displayed difficulty standing and walking, though it was ambulatory.
CVA [REDACTED] completed an intake medical examination, which confirmed my field assessment. The animal was administered pain medication, flea treatment, and was placed in a kennel for rest and recovery.
Based on the evidence and statements obtained, probable cause exists for Cruelty to Animals. I will be issuing an arrest warrant for Mr. Bryant.
