On Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, at approximately 1353 hours, I (Corporal M. Ha #2107) responded to Atrium Navicent Health Medical Center in reference to an assault that took place at the entrance ramp of I-475 Southbound on Eisenhower Parkway.

Upon my arrival, I spoke with [VICTIM #1] (victim) who advised that she had been assaulted by her daughter (Kelly Kovitch-Griggs). [VICTIM #1] advised that they were attempting to go back home to Peach County after picking up her granddaughter [WITNESS #1].

[VICTIM #1] stated that she was going to pick up [WITNESS #1] from Central Georgia Technical College. She stated that she did not want to go by herself to pick her up from Macon, so she went to her daughter’s residence of [100 BLOCK] Church Street Apartment [REDACTED] in Byron, Georgia. [VICTIM #1] stated that she did not know Kovitch-Griggs was intoxicated. She stated that she did not start acting out and yelling profanities at her until they got on the Interstate. She stated that Kovitch-Griggs kept arguing with her even when they arrived at the college to pick up [WITNESS #1].

She stated that the campus police officer threatened to kick them out of the property because they were fighting in the car (2020 Ford Edge) at the parking lot. [WITNESS #1] finally got dismissed from class and got in the vehicle. Before they can get on the interstate, Kovitch-Griggs attempted to take control of the wheels and tried to crash the vehicle. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was able to stop the vehicle before they got on to the interstate. She stated that her daughter started punching, scratch and biting her. She had taken photos of the injuries and they were moderate to severe injuries. [WITNESS #1] stated that she had a recording of the fight on her phone.

[WITNESS #1] gave her phone to me so I could listen to what was being said. On the recording, you could clear tell that Kovitch-Griggs was severely intoxicated and slurring her words together. At some points, she was very incoherent. [WITNESS #1] stated that at one point Kovitch-Griggs attempted to leave the vehicle when the police was called to the location.

[VICTIM #1] stated that she called dispatch at 2219 hours the night of the incident. She stated that the incident occurred on Thursday, August 21st, 2025 at approximately 2219 hours. She stated that they stayed almost an hour and a half and no deputies ever showed up to the scene. [VICTIM #1] stated that they could not wait any longer and took Kovitch-Griggs back to her apartment. I advised [VICTIM #1] that I would secure a warrant for Kovitch-Griggs for Battery-Family Violence. She was provided with the victim’s case brochure.

I attempted to contact [VICTIM #1] for further update, however, her phone was not accepting phone calls at this time. I made contact with [WITNESS #1] to get further update. She advised that [VICTIM #1] had to spend the night at the hospital for observations.
