On January 13, 2025, I, Corporal Grooms was dispatched to [3500 BLOCK] Stallworth Drive in reference to a fight/disorderly conduct involving gunshots being fired. Assistant Chief Billy Jones with the Gordon Police Department notified Macon Bibb County Dispatch that there were gunshots fired during the incident with no reported injuries. Mr. Jones identified employee [WITNESS #1] as a witness to the incident.
Upon my arrival, I made contact with Cornelius Abram III, Michael King, and [WITNESS #2] in the driveway of the residence. Mr. Abram stated he stopped hanging out with his friends Jaylon Mason and [WITNESS #1]. Mr. Abram stated he had pulled up to go in the house to get a jacket when a female subject pulled up to his residence to tell him that a female came to her residence keying her vehicle.
The female subject believed Mr. Abram was the only person that knew the female subject. Mr. Abram told the female subject that Jaylon was lying to her and that Jaylon was trying to use him as the fall guy. Abram stated Jaylon had got caught up with another female and he was not going to be his fall guy anymore because they were not kicking it.
Before the female subject arrived at his residence, Jaylon had called him and he did not answer the phone. Mr. Abram stated that Jaylon Mason was on the phone with the female subject. Before the female subject hung up with Jaylon, he heard Jaylon say he was on the way.
Mr. Abram stated he left the residence in his vehicle and went to Michael King’s residence. Mr. Abram stated Jaylon called him threatening by telling him that he has something for him that he needed to watch his window because he was going to kill him.
Mr. Abram stated he told Jaylon multiple times not to come to his house. Mr. Abram stated he came home and parked in his yard. Jaylon and [WITNESS #1] were parked in the Stallworth Drive roadway. He and Jaylon began to have a verbal altercation. Mr. Abram stated as Jaylon was leaving, he started firing gunshots near the road sign and Michael King retaliated firing two gunshots.
Mr. Abram stated when Mr. Jaylon fired gunshots, Jaylon had jumped out of the vehicle and started firing gunshots that was when Mr. Michael King retaliated with firing gunshots. Mr. Abram stated he did not fire any gunshots with his Glock 9mm black in color pistol with a flashlight and laser displaying serial number BZBZ241 because the gun jammed. I collected 1 9mm live round that was on the ground.
Mr. Michael King stated he was not here when the female came to Mr. Abram’s residence. Mr. King stated Jaylon was parked in the roadway and came out of the vehicle hostile making threatening statements that “he got something for you.” “Imma kill you.” Mr. King stated the situation escalated when Jaylon started driving off and made a statement that “I got something for you” then fired gunshots.
Mr. Michael King stated he was holding Mr. [WITNESS #2]’s Glock 40 mm black in color firearm displaying serial number SBB652 because it started getting heated and he did not want anybody to get in trouble. Mr. King stated he fired Mr. [WITNESS #2]’s firearm, and he made sure he did not hit anything. Mr. King showed me the area where he fired the gun at in grass in the front yard near the road.
Mr. King stated Jaylon made a U-turn then drove towards the residence. He slowed down and started exchanging words with his cousin. He drove near the fence and swung his arm stating “Yeah, I’m on that sh*t” then fired gunshots. Mr. King stated when he fired gunshots, he was not aiming to kill that he was firing warning shots.
Mr. King stated that when the vehicle started speeding off that was when he fired gunshots. The shell casings from the gunshots Mr. King fired were not in the area where he discharged the weapon. I collected two 40 mm shell casings from the front porch area.
Witness Ms. [WITNESS #3] stated when she came outside, they were going at it. She told them to leave that she was going to call the police. Then next thing she knew, the guys in the vehicle were halfway down the road when gunshots were fired from the vehicle. She did not know the direction the gunshots were fired.
I was shown two videos of the altercation. In the video that Mr. Abram showed me from his cell phone, I was unable to see what occurred when the gunshots were fired due to Mr. Abram not holding the phone in an upright position. In the other video, I did not hear any sounds of gunshots, only the altercation. Mr. Abram also had text messages from Jaylon prior to the incident.
The Glock 40 mmblack in color firearm displaying serial number SBB652 was collected to be entered in the crime lab as evidence. The Glock 9mm black in color pistol with a flashlight and laser displaying serial number BZBZ241 were collected to be entered into the crime lab for safe keeping due to Mr. Abram having a warrant.
Mr. Cornelius Abram was transported to the Wilkinson County line to be turned over to the Wilkinson County Sheriff Office. Mr. Abrams had a valid arrest warrant for failure to appear warrant for driving while license suspended, knowingly suspended registration, and failure to maintain insurance.
Deputy Raines met with Mr. Jaylon Mason.
