On 6/1/25 around 1544 I, Dep. Vonderhuevel, responded to [1400 BLOCK] Berkshire Dr in reference to a domestic where the female party had lit the male parties couch on fire before leaving the residence. Upon arrival I met with [VICTIM #1] who stated he had been home with his girlfriend Jackson, Mishavious. [VICTIM #1] stated his children’s mother had shown up and discovered the [VICTIM #1] and Jackson at the same residence and grew upset starting a verbal altercation between the children’s mother and [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] then stated after things were amended between himself and his children’s mother his girlfriend Ms. Jackson then grew upset and stated she wanted to leave.

[VICTIM #1] stated he was assisting Jackson with removing her items from the residence. Upon entering the complex and walking up the stairs to his apartment Jackson had walked down the stairs and left. [VICTIM #1] stated upon entering his apartment he realized the couch was on fire. [VICTIM #1] removed the piece that had been on fire and threw it out into the yard where he then poured water to extinguish the fire. Jackson had already pulled away in her black Chevrolet Trax. Before contact could be made again. I could smell the smoke from the fire and as well see burn marks on the couch and melted plastic like material along the couch, floor, wall and sidewalk outside the complex. I then got a detailed description of the vehicle. After locating the vehicle on FLOCK cameras, I got around Napier near Log Cabin where I spotted the vehicle traveling eastbound on Napier Ave near Log Cabin Dr.

I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and removed the sole occupant which had been Jackson. I detained her and placed her in the rear of my patrol vehicle. I then took a walk around the vehicle to ensure nobody was in the vehicle while I spoke with Jackson. I read Jackson her Miranda Rights which she stated she would speak to me without an attorney present. I asked her about the domestic situation to which her story was the same as [VICTIM #1]’s up until the part about his couch being set ablaze. Jackson stated she does not know how the couch became on fire and insisted it was not her. I then conducted a search of her vehicle for any fire accelerators to which I found none; I did see a Styrofoam cup in the middle cup holder with an unknown liquid and a .9mm shell casing in her driver side door handle area.

Upon speaking with Jackson again I notified her no accelerants were located. I also could smell alcohol on her and noticed her words were slurred. When asked about her speech and smell of alcohol Jackson stated the liquid was a wine cooler and that she had been consuming it while operating her vehicle after the dispute. Jackson was notified she would be placed under arrest and that her vehicle would be towed. Jackson was transported to the Bibb LEC after her vehicle was towed and booked for Arson, DUI Less Safe, and an open container.
