On Friday, November 14, 2025, I, Deputy Elson Odle #2114, was dispatched to [1200 BLOCK] Water Oak Ct. in reference to a domestic disturbance call.
While driving to the location, I noticed a black male walking on Edna Pl. towards Mercer University Dr. He appeared to be talking to himself loudly. I turned onto Walker St. and saw two black females and one black male walking towards Edna Pl., attempting to get my attention by waving their hands in the air. I stopped my vehicle in the middle of the roadway and asked them if they were the ones who called, and they replied yes. One of the females stated that the suspect was walking on Edna Pl. I asked her what he was wearing, and she said he had on a brown hoodie.
I then drove back to Edna Pl. in search of the suspect, and I saw him on the left side of Edna Pl. heading south. I made a U-turn and stopped him. Mr. Pounds appeared to be intoxicated but complied with my instructions while I handcuffed him and drove back to the above address to find out what happened.
I met [VICTIM #1], who stated that she received a phone call from Quartez Pounds on Thursday night at 12:45 AM. An hour later, he showed up at her door and started knocking. He was intoxicated and asked if he could spend the night. [VICTIM #1] responded no because her elderly father had just come home from the emergency room.
Pounds then asked [VICTIM #1] if she could take him home, and she agreed. She asked her son, [REDACTED BY AGENCY], to put on some socks and a shirt so that he could ride with her. While waiting for her son to get ready, Pounds tried to argue with [VICTIM #1]. He became upset when she did not respond, lunged at her, and then walked off. Pounds then came back and swung at [VICTIM #1]. She curled up to protect her face from being hit.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] came out of his room after hearing the commotion and saw Pounds standing over [VICTIM #1]. Pounds grabbed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] by the throat and pushed him against the back wall in the kitchen. Pounds was choking [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who then punched him to free himself. [VICTIM #1] got up and ran into the kitchen to prevent Pounds from hurting her son.
While [VICTIM #1] and Pounds were tussling, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was able to escape. When [REDACTED BY AGENCY] saw Pounds attempting to hit [VICTIM #1] again, he picked up a mop and began hitting Pounds across the back. Pounds then let go of [VICTIM #1], and she ran behind [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to protect him.
Pounds picked up part of the entertainment center and tried to hit both [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] with it. [VICTIM #1] stood in front of her son to shield him from the blow. [VICTIM #1] and Pounds began tussling again, prompting [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to run into the bedroom. Pounds picked up an amplifier and threw it over his shoulder to hit both [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] ending up putting a hole in the closet door. Pounds then picked up the mop and tried to hit them both with it. He also picked up [VICTIM #1]’s phone and threw it at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in an attempt to hit him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] threw it back and started screaming for him to stop.
Pounds then jumped on the bed where [VICTIM #1]’s young daughter was sleeping and attempted to attack [REDACTED BY AGENCY] again, waking the little girl up. [VICTIM #1] managed to block him long enough to let [REDACTED BY AGENCY] run to the neighbor’s house for help. Pounds pushed the little girl out of the way, and [VICTIM #1] left the house.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] gave the following statement. He was taking his grandfather back to the bedroom when he heard a knock at the door. He went to see who it was and saw Pounds mumbling. He walked away to ensure his grandfather made it back to bed.
When [REDACTED BY AGENCY] returned to check if Pounds was still at the door and he did not open it he decided to lie down. This was when [VICTIM #1] let Pounds inside. His mother told him to get up and put on his shirt and socks.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] then heard a noise and walked up the hallway. Pounds was standing over [VICTIM #1]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] asked him to move, and that’s when Pounds grabbed him by the throat and started pushing him into the kitchen wall. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] hit Pounds to break free.
[VICTIM #1] ran into the kitchen to protect her son, and they started tussling so [REDACTED BY AGENCY] could escape. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] hit Pounds in the back to defend his mother and ultimately stop Pounds from hitting her. They both slipped on the mop water, and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was able to get away before Pounds could catch him. He made it back into his mother’s room, where [VICTIM #1] stood in front of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to protect him.
Pounds began throwing things at them and attempted to hit them with the metal amplifier. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] jumped across the bed to escape and ran to the neighbor’s house for help. He was able to call the police. Pounds tried to get into the neighbor’s house, but the neighbor’s son blocked the door to prevent him from entering.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] was taken to the Children’s Hospital for treatment of his swollen right hand, which was injured in the incident. Ms. [VICTIM #1] declined EMS assistance and did not have any visible injuries. Mr. Pounds was transported to jail, while Ms. [VICTIM #1] received a case card containing the incident number for her records.
