On 10/19/2025, I, Dep. Tre. Lewis responded to 550 Gray Highway (McDonald’s) in reference to a possible overdose.
Upon arrival, I contacted the McDonald’s manager, who was standing near the trash area with employee Ricardo Harris. The manager stated that Harris was taking out the garbage when she noticed him running around the building, appearing to have a mental breakdown and shouting that “demons were attacking him.”
As I observed Harris, he was pacing back and forth, shouting that there were evil spirits around the trash dumpster and that he could not be near it. I requested dispatch to have EMS respond to the scene for evaluation. While on scene, Harris’s mother was on the phone with him, advising him to wait for her and telling him that he was not “crazy.”
Upon EMS arrival, EMT personnel attempted to assess Harris; however, his mother continued to yell over the phone that he was not crazy and to wait for her. When Harris’s mother arrived on scene, Harris initially calmed down. While EMTs attempted to resume their evaluation, the mother again stated, “He is not crazy; y’all are trying to make my son crazy.” At that time, Harris became agitated again, shouting that he could feel “evil spirits coming upon him” and refusing to speak with EMS. EMS personnel then turned the situation back over to law enforcement and refused to provide medical services.
I advised Harris to turn in his work equipment, which included a McDonald’s headset, and to leave the property for the remainder of his shift. While escorting him to the restaurant entrance to return his equipment, Harris stated that he would not go inside or leave until his mother accompanied him. I gave Harris several lawful commands to turn in his equipment and leave the premises, as he was disturbing customers and disrupting business operations.
As I continued to escort him toward the entrance, Harris pulled away aggressively, snatching his arm from me, and again stated that he was not going anywhere. At that time, I placed Harris under arrest for disorderly conduct due to disrupting the business and causing a public disturbance. Harris was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) for processing.
