On 04-25-2026 @ 0048hrs, While working a Detail downtown I observed a light colored sedan heading North on MLK crossing over Walnut St. As the vehicle was passing through the intersection of MLK @ Walnut I observed the vehicle had blue lights illuminating from the tire area of the vehicle.
I conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle as it was crossing over Riverside Dr on MLK. The vehicle came to a controlled rest just onto the bridge on the right hand side of the roadway. I made contact with the Driver and asked for his driver licenses. The Driver stated he did not have his license on him, and identified himself as Roderick Whisby and gave a birthday of [REDACTED BY AGENCY].
As I was speaking to Whisby and getting his information I noticed that his speech was very slow, and somewhat mumbled. I also noticed Whisby had bloodshot and watery eyes. I asked Whisby if he had anything to drink,and he stated no.
I went back to my car and ran Whisby through NCIC/GCIC, and discovered he had a suspended driver license. I went back up to the vehicle, and asked Whisby to step out so I could speak with him.
As Whisby exited his vehicle he held onto the driver side door, and appeared to be unsteady on his feet. As he got to the rear of his vehicle I had him lean on the trunk area so he would not fall. I informed Whisby that I was going to have another Deputy come and perform Field Sobriety Test to make sure he was safe to driver. Sgt. Tillman arrived, and when he asked Whisby if he would take the test Whisby stated no.
Sgt. Tillman read Whisby his implied consent for Breath and Blood, and once again Whisby refused to take any tests. Whisby was placed under arrest for DUI by Sgt. Tillman without incident and transported to the Bibb Co Lec. The vehicle was towed by Lesters Towing.
