On June 30, 2025, at approximately 1400 hours, I, Investigator Kenneth Hester, received an animal cruelty case for review.
Sgt. Collis initially responded to a call at Urology Associates, located at 5400 Bowman Rd. Upon arrival, he made contact with Nurse Practitioner [WITNESS #1], who provided the following account:
At approximately 1310 hours, a patient identified as Ronysha Dixon arrived at the clinic for a scheduled appointment. Dixon remained in the waiting area for approximately one hour. At some point, she requested water and then exited the building. Shortly thereafter, Dixon returned in a frantic state, stating that her dog was in distress.
[WITNESS #1] and several clinic staff members followed Dixon to her vehicle, a white Chevrolet Equinox, parked outside. Upon arrival at the vehicle, they discovered a black and white pit bull puppy inside, unresponsive. [WITNESS #1] observed vomit and feces in the vehicle, along with visible scratch marks throughout the interior, indicating the animal had been desperately trying to escape. The interior temperature was recorded at 122°F using an infrared thermometer. [WITNESS #1] reported that the dog had chewed the headliner and door trim in an apparent attempt to escape the heat.
[WITNESS #1] attempted CPR on the puppy; however, the animal was already deceased. A white male driving a red Ford F-250 arrived shortly after and retrieved Dixon. Dixon wrapped the dog in a towel and fled the scene. She did not return for her vehicle until approximately 2300 hours that night.
A recorded statement was obtained from [WITNESS #1], along with video surveillance footage capturing portions of the incident. Based on the evidence and witness statements, probable cause exists to pursue charges of Aggravated Animal Cruelty.
