On July 21, 2025, at approximately 1727, I, Deputy Vonderhuevel, responded to 1681 Rocky Creek Road regarding a call for service regarding shots fired.
Upon arrival, I met with staff who led me to the easternmost fuel pumps to show me the shell casings left from the shooting. Near the pumps, I located multiple .9mm casings. I was then led to the roadway in front of the fuel station, where I located in the emergency lane a single shell casing, which was also of the .9mm type. I was then led to the store where I met with the victim, [VICTIM #1].
[VICTIM #1] stated that she had been in a physical fight near the public park in the area of Lion Street. Upon concluding the fight, [VICTIM #1] noted that she left with her “brother,” whom she said she did not know by name. [VICTIM #1] indicated that the female she had been in the fight with (Shay Hurley) had followed her in a vehicle, pointing a firearm at her near the Rocky Creek Rd and Pio Nono Ave intersection. Upon seeing the gun, [VICTIM #1] told the driver of her car to pull off, at which point he cut through a liquor store parking lot and traveled westbound on Rocky Creek Rd until pulling into the fuel station. Upon getting to the fuel station, Shay then drove by, discharging a firearm in her direction. Upon being fired at, [VICTIM #1]’s brother then returned fire in the direction of Shay’s vehicle.
Upon watching video footage, a white vehicle, possibly an SUV, was observed traveling westbound on Rocky Creek Rd in front of the fuel station. No audio is available to hear shots, but you could see [VICTIM #1] and the male subject, who was with her, duck before he turned and returned fire in the direction of the white SUV.
No contact was made with Shay or [VICTIM #1]’s brother, as both had left the scene before the BCSO’s arrival. All shell casings will be turned over to the crime lab for examination. Further investigation is required to identify the male subject with [VICTIM #1], as well as to positively identify Shay Hurley.
[End of Narrative]
