On 10/31/25 at 1554 hrs, I, Corporal J. Williams #2252, arrived at the intersection of Brownley Dr and Bloomfield Rd in reference to a Hit and Run Accident involving suspect Tony Gardner operating a 1992 Green Ford Ranger (5).
Upon my arrival, Fire was on scene. There were 4 vehicles sitting on the left side of the road, facing westbound. (1) A 2010 Blue Lexus RX350, (2) a 2018 Gray Ford Escape, (3) a 2019 Blue Honda Civic, and (4) a 2009 Silver Dodge Grand Caravan. All the vehicles had damage.
I made contact with [VICTIM #1], vehicle 1 driver. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was sitting at the red traffic light behind an uninvolved vehicle. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that Gardner made a left turn onto Brownley Dr from Bloomfield Rd. Gardner nearly struck a moving fire truck while making his turn. [VICTIM #1] stated that Gardner hit her head on and just sat there. Gardner eventually backed up and drove off, remaining on their side of the road. [VICTIM #1] advised that she could see Gardner hit the car behind her.
I received the statement from the driver of vehicle 2, [VICTIM #2]. Ms. [VICTIM #2] made the same statement as Ms. [VICTIM #1], but added that Gardner struck her car on the driver’s front and traveled completely down the side of the SUV, leaving visible damage.
I made contact with the driver of vehicle 3, [VICTIM #3]. Ms. [VICTIM #3] stated that after Gardner hit Ms. [VICTIM #2]’s SUV, he hit her head on, damaging the front of the driver’s side. Ms. [VICTIM #3] advised that the impact pushed her car back into the front of vehicle 4, the Caravan.
The driver of vehicle 4, [VICTIM #4], was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Ms. [VICTIM #4]’s van was lightly damaged on the front.
I was advised by a passerby that Gardner was at the next intersection of Brownley Dr and Bloomfield Dr, collided with another vehicle. Upon arrival at the intersection, Gardner’s appeared to have driven through the intersection and made a right turn over the median, striking and knocking down a Yield sign, then colliding into a daycare van with 13 kids on board. Contact was made with the driver of the van, [VICTIM #5], who advised that everyone was ok. The kids’ names will not be mentioned based on the privacy of the Daycare.
Mr. Gardner was noticed attempting to crank the Green Ford Ranger truck engine to drive away. Gardner was very unsteady on his feet and unable to keep his balance. Gardner’s eyes were glossy, and his speech was slurred. A smell of alcohol was noticed coming from his breath while he was talking in my face. He was also very confused about what was going on. Gardner was arrested and placed in the back of my checked patrol truck. After making sure that all the victims received medical attention if they needed it, I transported Gardner to the Bibb County Jail.
Gardner was charged with Hit and Run (O.C.G.A. 40-6-270), Reckless Driving (O.C.G.A. 40-6-390), DUI less safe (O.C.G.A. 40-6-391), and Driving on a suspended license (O.C.G.A. 40-5-121).
While being processed inside the booking area, Gardner admitted to having used illegal drugs (Cocaine), and drinking alcoholic beverages.
[End of Narrative]
