On Saturday November 1, 2025, at 0202 hours, I (Deputy A. Diaz) along with Deputy S. Crosby responded to Cherry Street near Martin Luther King Blvd. to assist Deputy P. Smith and Lt. Smith with a fight in progress and to assist with crowd control.

While at the scene attempting to disperse a very large crowd, a white male subject started to argue with Deputy P. Smith. Suspect was cursing loudly and yelling while waving his hands while screaming. Suspect appeared to be intoxicated. Deputy Smith asked the white male subject to leave the area and he became more aggressive. The suspect refused and started to point his index finger at him while saying that he was going to kick deputy Smith’s a*s. As we walked across the road toward Deputy Smith, the suspect kept charging towards Deputy Smith.

At that time, I and Deputy Crosby approached the suspect with Taser in hand, and we both activated the alarm on the Taser. The green dots of both Taser were on the suspect at this time. As Crosby and I approached the suspect, asking for him to leave the area he refused and stated that we could not tell him what to do. Suspect then pointed his index finger a few inches from my face and looked at the Taser and stated, “I don’t give a fu*k about your Taser”. I put my taser away as I was too close to him and felt that he might attempt to grab it and informed him that he was under arrest. I attempted to place him under arrest, but he resisted and became tense, he had to be taken to the ground in order to be taken under custody. During the takedown, Hughes hit his head on the sidewalk and was bleeding slightly from the right side of the top of his head.

We placed Hughes in the back of our patrol vehicle and called for an ambulance. [REDACTED] with Atrium Navicent attempted several times to check and treat the suspect, but he refused all medical treatment and would not give his name and date of birth. [REDACTED] stated that she would fill out a report for her records for refusal. During transporting the suspect, he agreed to give his name and information.

We transported Tye Andrew Hughes to the Bibb County LEC for processing on the charges of Disorderly Conduct and Obstruction (misd.). At the Bibb LEC, Tye refused medical treatment and would not cooperate with booking personnel. Tye was placed in a holding cell.
