On 09-17-2025 @ 1044hrs, I was dispatched to the area of Lexington St and Hall St in reference to a crash involving one vehicle. Upon arrival I made contact with the victim [VICTIM #1] who stated the following.
[VICTIM #1] stated she and the suspect (Walter Smith) have been in a relationship for 5 to 6 years, and today they met up at a convenience store on Old Clinton Rd. She stated the two of them met up so the suspect could give her some money to give to her probation officer. She stated although the two of them do not have any children together the suspect has raised her son as his own. She stated after giving her the money the suspect wanted to take the child home with him. She stated when she told the suspect no, he began cursing, and screaming at her.
[VICTIM #1] stated because of the history between the two of them she got scared and pulled off. She said after doing so the suspect began following her on several streets in an attempt to catch her. She stated she went down Gray Hwy, and turned next to Jiffy Lube on Lexington St, in an attempt to get away. She said when she came to the intersection of Lexington St and Hall St she stopped for the stop sign, but noticed that the suspect had caught up to her. She stated after stopping at the stop sign she continued on Lexington St, and that is when she noticed the suspect fail to stop at the same stop sign.
She said after running the stop sign, the suspect began ramming her car which made her loose control and hit the fence, and shed at [300 BLOCK] Hall St. She said after the suspect ran her off of the road, he continued to ride by the scene prior to Officers arrival.
She said the suspect knew the juvenile was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
The victim’s vehicle was towed in by Kitchens Towing, and she and the juvenile were given a ride by me to [1900 BLOCK] Mallard Dr.
[VICTIM #1] was given a case card for this report, and informed on how to obtain a copy of it if one is needed.
On 09-17-2025 @ 1417hrs units were able to make contact with the suspect at the corner of Anthony Rd and Mercer University Dr. At the time contact was made the suspect was driving the suspect vehicle listed in this report.
After speaking to the suspect he stated that he did not strike the victims vehicle, and stated the damage on the front of his vehicle was old. The damage on the vehicle matched the description the victim stated when I was speaking to her.
Walter Smith was placed into custody without incident, and transported to the Bibb Co Lec where he was booked in for the following charges.
- Hit and Run
- Aggressive Driving
- Cruelty to children in the 3rd Degree
[End of Narrative]
