On the date, January 20, 2026, at 1155 hours. I, Sgt. J. Litton #0109 responded to Edna Place at Mercer in reference to a hit-and-run accident where U.S. Marshals had stopped the driver attempting to flee the area at Eveline Drive at Mercer University Drive.

The driver was identified as William D. Johnson (dob: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]) by his Georgia Identification card.

It was learned that Johnson slammed into the rear of another pickup truck, driven by [VICTIM #1] (see stat 6 report) that had stopped to allow a vehicle (US Marshall) to back out. Johnson then fled the scene in his vehicle and was chased by US Marshals who were able to get him stopped at Eveline Drive and Mercer University drive.

Upon my arrival, I obtained Johnson’s identification card and asked about his license. When I could not get a straight answer, I ran his information through GCIC and learned his license is revoked. Johnson was advised that he would be charged with the hit and run along with driving while suspended/revoked.

Johnson was checked for weapons and secured in the backseat of my patrol vehicle. Johnson continued to beg to be released. Johnson stated while in my backseat that he would not be going back to jail, and stated I’ll show you. Johnson while handcuffed behind his back and seatbelt in, used his head to wrap the seatbelt around his neck, in an attempt to strangle or choke himself.

Once securing Johnson in again, I immediately proceeded to BLEC and asked LT Inzar to follow me in case, Johnson became a problem during transport. Johnson continued crying about going to jail but did not interrupt transport.

Johnson was transported to BLEC cleared by booking deputy and medical and turned over to BLEC.
