On 04-29-2026 at approximately 1058 hours I responded to above location in reference to a physical altercation.

Upon arrival I spoke with above Complainant / Victim who advised that while sitting outside she saw above Offender in her yard and he began running at her. When he reached her he shoved her to the ground, got on top of her, grabbed her throat with his left hand, and began to strike her in the left side of her face with his right hand. Victim further advised that her daughter / above Witness struck Offender in the face to get him to stop attacking Victim. Victim had discoloration on the left side of her face, neck / throat area, and upper chest which through my training and experience are indicators of this type of physical attack.

I then spoke with above witness who stated that Victim saw above Offender in her yard and he began running at her. When he reached her he shoved her to the ground, got on top of her, grabbed her throat with his left hand, and began to strike her in the left side of her face with his right hand. Victim further advised that she struck Offender in the face to get him to stop attacking Victim.

I located Offender at his residence which is located close by victim. Offender was incoherant and unable to give any information and was placed under arrest for above charges and transported to the Brantley County jail where he was turned to the jailers on duty. Warrants will be secured on Offender for above charges. This case is cleared by arrest

DEFENSE ATTORNEY ENTERS APPEARANCE FOR MATTHEW WOODALL

What this means: On May 4, 2026, the Waycross Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office filed a formal notice with the Brantley County Superior Court stating that it would be representing Matthew Woodall. Assistant Public Defender Sierra R. Childers (Georgia Bar No. 101485) entered her appearance on Woodall’s behalf. The filing also notified the State that Woodall was invoking his right to discovery — meaning the prosecution is required to share the evidence it has gathered — under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 17-16-1 et seq.). The Standing Order and Standard Notices were also formally invoked, which are standard procedural tools that set ground rules for how the case will proceed. A copy of this filing was hand-delivered to the District Attorney’s office at the Waycross Judicial Circuit on the same day.
