On 10/1/2026 at 1641 hours while traveling west on Ga-520 and nearing its intersection with Stone Drive I observed a blue in color Chevy Cruz (Ga-tag [REDACTED]) make an illegal U-turn, causing a semi truck to brake very hard to avoid a collision with the blue vehicle. The Chevy was initially traveling east, but upon conducting the U-turn was facing west and was stopped on a gravel strip on the shoulder of the highway. I was not in a position to stop the vehicle at this time, and instead watched the Chevy make another U-turn and travel east again (The same direction she was initially traveling).

I conducted my own U-turn and informed dispatch of my intent to stop the vehicle. I provided the license plate, and was informed that the vehicle was operating on expired registration (the registration expired only a few days prior, on 09/28/2026). I activated my emergency lights and sirens, and watched as the vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of Ga520 and Mumford St. I exited my marked patrol vehicle, and began to make a driver side approach to the vehicle. I observed a very large, dark in color pitbull sticking it head out of the rear driver side window and took a moment to consider my approach.

It was at this time that I observed the tail-lights on the vehicle go dark, and the vehicle itself began to roll forward. I observed the vehicle enter the roadway at a very moderate speed, and watched as it traveled east toward the Glynn County/Brantley County line. I reentered my marked patrol vehicle, notified dispatch of the vehicles flight, and activated my emergency sirens once more. I provided constant speed, traffic condition, and direction updates to dispatch as we traveled. The Chevy did not drive reckless, or speed in a dangerous manner, instead staying approx 10/15 over the speed limit at any given time. I followed the vehicle, as we continued east on Ga-520 for approx 10.5 miles at this pace until we reached West Flanders Drive in Glynn County where the driver turned left (north) and came to a stop.

I notified dispatch of this, and exited my marked patrol vehicle, firearm drawn as I did so. The Driver (identified as w/f VICKY LYNN MLEKO) exited the vehicle of her own accord, and I conducted a felony stop on the vehicle. Mleko complied with all commands and was secured into handcuffs. Mleko stated that she ran because she was trying to get the dog to her house, and began to wail about having puppies and other rescue animals at the house. Mleko’s behaviour was out of the ordinary, and in addition I detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her person. (Mleko later admitted to consuming the can of THC drink that was found in the vehicle).

Mleko was secured into the rear of my marked patrol vehicle, and read implied consent to which she consented to a blood draw. Mleko’s vehicle and dog were turned over to SGT Watson. I transported Mleko to the Brantley County Sheriffs Office where I requested EMS conduct a blood draw, completed a GBI blood test kit and dropped it into evidence. Mleko was cited with “Fleeing or attempting to elude” “Expired tag” “failure to yield”.
