On Tuesday October 18, 2023 at 0100 hrs. I Officer D. Mobley and Officer M. DiFranco as well as Burke County Sheriff Dept. was dispatched to 734 Savannah Ave in reference to a Burglary in progress.
Upon my arrival I activated my body camera, and observed the front bedroom window to be opened to the residences. Myself and Burke County Deputy’s K-2 A. Plugger and J. Filcher knocked on the residence door and made contact with the complainant [VICTIM #1].
[VICTIM #1] stated that Eric Douglas was knocking loudly on the windows around the residences, and it woke him up. [VICTIM #1] stated Eric Douglas forcefully opened the front bedroom window, and stated “he has that fire and he ant afraid to use it, if [WITNESS #1] did not have his stuff”.
[VICTIM #1] stated Eric Dougles entered into the front bedroom window’s residence’s, at which time [VICTIM #1] stated he left form the bedroom and ran to the bathroom and called 911 for help.
[VICTIM #1] stated that Eric Dougles was still inside the residences at the time of our arrival on scene. [VICTIM #1] stated Eric Douglas was in the front bedroom still.
Myself and Burke County Deputy’s K-2 A. Plugger and 404 J. Filcher went inside to clear the residences, where Eric Douglas was found in the right-side bedroom in the closet.
Deputy J. Filcher gave verbal commands to Eric Douglas to come out with his hands up, myself and J. Fletcher held Eric Douglas at gun point do to the fact Douglas was holding a knife in his left hand.
Myself and Deputy Fletcher gave verbal commands to drop the knife Eric Douglas complied with commands at the time, and dropped the knife. Deputy A. Pulger than grabbed Eric Dougles by his left arm to place him into handcuffs.
Eric Dougles proceeds to put his right hand down on the bed, so Deputy Pulger could not grab his hand. I grab the right hand and advised Eric Dougles to lay down on the bed to be able to place him into handcuffs, Eric Douglas did not follow verbal commands and proceeds to fight us.
Deputy Fletcher was trying to assisted as well, but Eric Douglas did not comply still Eric Douglas was still trying to place his right hand up underneath him.
We were able to place Eric Douglas into handcuffs with his hands behind his back double locking them, after several minutes Eric Douglas fighting us. When removing Eric Douglas form the bed where he was laying a home made knife fill out of his front pocket Jacket onto the bed.
I searched Eric Douglas looking for any more weapons and drugs. I located a small plastic container in his right front pocket that contained a small clear rock inside of it believed to be crack rock cocaine inside.
I placed Eric Douglas inside Officer M. DiFranco per- searched patrol unit where she transported him to Burke County Jail. I placed the knife and the crack cocaine into evidence locker # 1 and 2, for evidence.
I notified Major A. Collins of the incident.
