On July 4th, 2026, at approximately 1711 hours, I (Deputy Mauldin) was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Potts Trail in reference to a report of harassment.

This address was dispatched with the same call two other times prior to this, so I was familiar with the call. The complainant, [WITNESS #1], stated that his ex-girlfriend (Shelby Elrod) has been going to his parents’ house all weekend, yelling and screaming and honking the horn. [WITNESS #1] also stated that at one point, she drove her car into their backyard to reach him.

The first two times I was dispatched to this address, I was unable to locate Elrod due to her leaving before I could arrive. This time, however, myself and Deputy Stillwell were able to locate Elrod at her residence. As Deputy Stillwell and myself arrived at her residence, we observed Elrod get out of her vehicle and enter her residence as we ordered her to stop where she was. Ignoring the orders, Elrod went into her residence, where she refused to come out. During this initial contact period, she shouted things such as “go fu*k yourself” at myself and Stillwell, and also stated that she was going to release her dog on us while we were there.

Due to Elrod being barricaded inside, myself and Stillwell waited for backup to arrive. Approximately one hour later, more Deputies arrived for backup. Warrants for Disorderly Conduct (26-312B) and Obstruction of Officer (26-312A) were initially gathered on scene, as well as a search warrant for entry to be made into the residence.

After using the patrol vehicle’s PA system to order Elrod out of the house for over an hour, LT Holcomb made the decision to make entry and take control of Elrod. As Deputies made entry into the home using a battering ram to knock the door in, Elrod was waiting inside for Deputies. Elrod could be heard not complying with orders from Deputies, thus a taser was deployed against Elrod to gain compliance via NMI.

After Elrod was lowered to the ground, she was handcuffed, searched, and led outside by myself and Deputy McDonald. She was searched again and placed into the back of my patrol car until an ambulance arrived to clear Elrod of injuries. Once the ambulance arrived, Elrod was cleared of any injury and one remaining taser prong was removed by EMS on scene.

After Elrod was cleared, she was transported to the Butts County Jail by Deputy Davis and Deputy Elliott without incident. Warrants were sworn out for Disorderly Conduct (26-312B), Obstruction of Officer (26-312A, 26-314B), and Terroristic Threats (26-314A).
