On January 31st, 2023, at 10:53 PM, I Cpl. Beightel was dispatched to Cumberland Oaks Apartments (The Oaks) [100 BLOCK] Mary Powell Drive Apt. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in St. Marys, GA 31558 (Camden County) regarding a black male who was actively trying to kick in the door of the apartment to get in. While proceeding to the address on Florence and Davis Street, I observed a black male walking from the direction of the Oaks he appeared to be sweating and tensed up as my vehicle approached.

I stopped my vehicle and asked him if he could answer some questions. The male later identified as Misshia Taylor continued to walk away saying “you got the wrong guy.”. I ordered Mr. Taylor to come back and asked him for his name and date of birth (DOB) explaining I believed he was involved in an incident that just occurred in the Oaks. He stated he just came from the Oaks but he wasn’t involved in that so he would not give his info.

I continued to question Mr. Taylor as he tried to walk away from the scene several times. I informed Mr. Taylor he was not free to leave as I had reasonable suspicion to believe he was involved with the alleged crime in the Oaks. He continued to deny being a part of the incident changing his story of what he was doing and where he was coming from several times. At one point, Mr. Taylor stated he was never in the Oaks and was just walking by before changing his story again.

Eventually, Mr. Taylor admitted he was in the Oaks and could not believe his “baby mama” called the police on him. I asked him what he was doing in the Oaks, and he stated he was there to get his “jit” (his daughter) because he needed to get her and leave town to Chicago. He admitted he was at the door banging on it but claims he did not kick it. Mr. Taylor went on to admit he was not on the birth certificate of the child or legitimized thus having no rights to the child he was trying to take. Mr. Taylor only confirmed his name after the victim’s mother arrived on scene and gave his name to officers. He was detained in handcuffs as he continued to be uncooperative trying to walk away from the scene and deny involvement. After being handcuffed, Mr. Taylor said he had marijuana in his pants pocket and that was collected from him. Mr. Taylor was placed in the back of my patrol vehicle as we went to the scene of the incident to interview the caller.

At the scene I was met by Ms. [VICTIM #1] resident of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and mother of Mr. Taylor’s child. Ms. [VICTIM #1] showed the door that had several shoeprints on it. The shoe prints were that of Nike Airforces which Mr. Taylor was currently wearing. The door itself, while not yet off the hinges, was damaged to the point the locks would have to be replaced as they were no longer functioning. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Taylor showed up unannounced and uninvited and started to kick the door after she would not let him in.

While kicking the door he stated once he got inside, he would take her down to the river which Ms. [VICTIM #1] believed he meant he would kill her. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she was in fear of her, and her child’ life during the incident and called 911 fearing what Mr. Taylor would do once he got in the residence. Mr. Taylor only left after being told police were coming according to Ms. [VICTIM #1]. Picture were taken of the damage and shoe prints. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she did want to press charges.

With this I informed Mr. Taylor he was being placed under arrest and conducted a search of his person finding a plastic bag with colored pills in his jacket pocket. Through my training and experience I believed the pills were illegal narcotics and thus had them field tested for MDMA and Methamphetamine which both yield positive results. Mr. Taylor stated without being questioned that he found the pills on the ground thus admitting to possessing the narcotics.

Mr. Taylor was then transported to the Woodbine jail facility without incident for the following charges:

OCGA 16-4-1 Criminal attempt Kidnapping
OCGA 16-13-30 Possession of Methamphetemine
OCGA 16-13-30 Possession of MDMA
OCGA 16-5-20 Simple Assault (FVA)
OCGA 16-7-21 Criminal trespass (damage)(FVA)
OCGA 16-11-39 Disorderly Conduct

All evidence collected was submitted to the St. Marys Police Department Evidence room. The alleged Marijuana found field tested positive for Fentanyl and will be sent with the found pills to GBI for testing.
