On 02/04/2026, at approximately 2152 hours, I was dispatched to 160 Centennial Drive, Room [REDACTED] (Roadway Inn) in reference to a stabbing. Dispatch advised that a male had a knife, stabbed the complainant [VICTIM #1], popped [VICTIM #1]’s tire, and left the scene.

I arrived on scene and approached room [REDACTED], while keeping an eye on my surroundings. I kept an eye on my surroundings because the suspect, later identified as Andrew Nguyen, left the scene and I had no description of the suspect.

I banged on the door, and [VICTIM #1] answered. I immediately asked him to show me his hands. I observed a tear on his left sleeve when he showed me his open, free hands. [VICTIM #1] raised his left sleeve, which had a cut on it, and showed me his left bicep. His left bicep had a thin 3-inch cut that ran down a diagonal angle, showing a fresh line of red blood.

I observed a woman wearing a gray hoodie and jeans rummaging around the room. She seemed to be looking for something. This woman was identified as [WITNESS #1]. She was looking for cigarettes.

I asked [VICTIM #1] for the suspect’s name, and all he could tell me was that the suspect’s first name was Andrew and that he was [WITNESS #1]’s ex-boyfriend. I then looked toward [WITNESS #1], who was still searching the room. [WITNESS #1] told me the guy’s name was Andrew and that she didn’t know his last name. I asked her again, and she stated the suspect’s full name and date of birth.

[WITNESS #1] then walked out of the room towards the car, still in search of cigarettes. I told [WITNESS #1] to come back inside. [WITNESS #1] stated that she wasn’t involved in this and that [VICTIM #1] was the victim. I advised [WITNESS #1] that she is not free to go.

[VICTIM #1] showed his wound to other officers again and began to refuse to have emergency medical services check him out. [VICTIM #1] stated that he has been injured worse before and that he is not worried about it.

I observed [VICTIM #1]’s car and noticed a spider-webbed crack in the windshield. I asked [VICTIM #1] about the damage to his windshield; he advised that it was like that before this incident. [VICTIM #1] witnessed Andrew slash his front driver’s side tire. [VICTIM #1] then stated that he does not want to press charges or get Andrew into trouble; he just wants Andrew to give him a new tire.

I observed [WITNESS #1]’s attitude: she was very standoffish, angry, and initially didn’t try to give me her name or [VICTIM #1]’s name, and tried to distance herself from the incident. She was more worried about finding a cigarette than about her friend [VICTIM #1]. She also stated that she didn’t want to “burn bridges” with Andrew or [VICTIM #1]. Due to her behavior, I asked [VICTIM #1] to step outside while I interviewed him.

[VICTIM #1] stated these things:

  • We went to Little Caesars to get something to eat and came back.
  • When we came back, Andrew sent [WITNESS #1] a message saying he would be looking for me.
  • I pulled up and heard something hit my door, and I said, “Really, dude, you’re going to hit my door.”
  • He threw his bike down and came running around.
  • I got out of my car, and that’s when I saw the knife. I tried to back up and move away as best I could.
  • He stabbed me a little bit and then swung at me a couple of times. He had the knife in his right hand.
  • [WITNESS #1] got in between us to separate us, and I went inside. He then saw Andrew slash his tire before leaving.
  • Andrew stated he was going to kill himself and that he was not done with [VICTIM #1].

[VICTIM #1] described Andrew as wearing a brown Carhart jacket, blue jeans, and a dark blue bike. [VICTIM #1] claimed Andrew as a friend. [VICTIM #1] and Andrew are both ex-boyfriends of [WITNESS #1].

[WITNESS #1] and Andrew are old childhood friends. [WITNESS #1] let us know after asking multiple times that Andrew sometimes stays near Walmart in a tent.

I sent [VICTIM #1] into the room and began interviewing [WITNESS #1] outside. [WITNESS #1] stated:

  • We pulled back into the roadway. I saw him riding around on his bike.
  • I told [VICTIM #1] that Andrew is right behind us, and he said, “I don’t care; he’s not going to do anything.”
  • I got out of the car, and Andrew had already thrown his bike on the ground.
  • [VICTIM #1] got out of the car, and Andrew started running around the car towards [VICTIM #1].
  • I got in between them and told him to leave.
  • I walked up to Andrew and shouted, “You did this to us! You’d better leave!”
  • Andrew stabbed the tire, walked around the car to pick up his bike, and left.
  • Andrew stated that he was going to kill himself.

Upon Further investigation, it was discovered that Andrew was upset that [WITNESS #1] was still spending time with [VICTIM #1]. [WITNESS #1] showed me the messages she had with Andrew. In the messages, Andrew confessed that he had never stopped loving [WITNESS #1] and that he would look for her no matter how long it took. He later says that he hates her and that he is going to kill himself.

Andrew’s emotions read through these messages are very unstable. [WITNESS #1] also stated that she would never see Andrew in a bad light because they are old friends.

Officers obtained video footage of this incident from the front office. The video shows [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1] parked. [WITNESS #1] is in the front passenger seat, and [VICTIM #1] is in the driver’s seat. Andrew comes into the frame wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans, riding a bike. Andrew immediately approached the passenger-side door, where [WITNESS #1] was. Andrew throws his bike down; [WITNESS #1] and [VICTIM #1] get out of the car. Andrew begins to take off his jacket and run around the rear of the vehicle towards [VICTIM #1].

Andrew raises his right hand holding a knife, approaching [VICTIM #1] quickly and aggressively. [VICTIM #1] turns around and runs towards the wall of the building, while Andrew chases after him, swinging with the knife. [VICTIM #1] and Andrew make contact with each other, while [WITNESS #1] immediately gets in between them.

[WITNESS #1] sticks her arm out, pushing against Andrew’s chest to keep him from [VICTIM #1]. Andrew keeps swiping away [WITNESS #1]’s arm, constantly pushing closer towards [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] moves to the left, trying to distance himself from Andrew. Andrew tries to stab [VICTIM #1] again with the knife and misses.

[VICTIM #1] rushes inside the room, while [WITNESS #1] and Andrew have a brief discussion. Andrew can be heard saying, “I told you I’d….” Andrew backs up towards [VICTIM #1]’s car, bends over, and uses his right hand to stab the front left driver’s side tire. Andrew walks around the rear of the car and picks up his jacket. He has one more discussion with [WITNESS #1] and then leaves on his bike.

Officers searched the nearby area of the woods behind Martin Hightower that connects with Centennial Drive. They discovered a light-brown jacket and a dark-colored bike.

The area was searched for Andrew, but he was not located at this time.

Upon final investigation, it was determined that Andrew caused $100 in damage to [VICTIM #1]’s tire. Also, due to Andrew’s aggressive behavior with a knife towards [VICTIM #1]. Andrew committed the act of Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon.

[VICTIM #1] does not wish to prosecute at this time.
