On 3/29/2026 at approximately 04:03 hours, I, Officer Marchbanks, responded to the area of Highway 78 rear First Baptist Church of Villa Rica in reference to a flag down.

A passerby advised me a woman was in the middle of the road in front of First Baptist Church and requested her be checked on. I drove my patrol vehicle to the location and observed a woman, later identified as Bethany League, in the eastbound lane of Highway 78 sitting on the ground hugging her knees. I approached Bethany and asked what was going on. Bethany was crying and difficult to understand, but she stated she fell. She stated she was sorry and she wasn’t being a who*e. I observed she had scraped knees, blood on her leg and a knot on the right side of her head near her eye.

Bethany stated something which was unclear, but which I interpreted her as saying someone was going to kill her. She began walking away from my patrol vehicle towards [1400 BLOCK] W Hwy 78, which was later determined to be her residence.

I followed Bethany, and asked who else was with her at the house. She continued saying she was sorry. I asked her again and she said [VICTIM #1], later identified as [VICTIM #1], was at the house and was acting crazy. Bethany got up again and walked across Highway 78 towards First Baptist Church. I followed her with my patrol vehicle and made contact again when she sat down again. She advised she has been having some sort of issue involving kids for the past year.

Bethany continued crying and tried to explain what had happened, but it was incoherent. She did clearly say “and then he just started fu*king beating me”. She said he did something else before she left, but exactly what was incoherent. She stated this was a fu*ked up way to teach her not to hang out with black people. She then ran across Highway 78 again towards her residence. Bethany sat down again in the grass and stayed with Ofc. Hamilton while I relocated to the residence.

I made contact with [VICTIM #1] in his residence. I observed what appeared to be two blood smears on the floor of the kitchen. I observed a cut through [VICTIM #1]’s shirt. [VICTIM #1] stated she came home drunk and didn’t know where she had been. I asked how everything got started tonight.

[VICTIM #1] stated Bethany got home around 3:30-3:45 in the morning when he was asleep. I asked [VICTIM #1] if he knew how she got hurt. He stated he didn’t know how she got hurt, He stated Bethany came home and started hitting him. He stated he tried to get out of the rear door and it continued outside as well. [VICTIM #1] said she fell on the floor of the kitchen. [VICTIM #1] said she fell over a lot when she was drunk. I asked [VICTIM #1] where he got hit at. He stated she hit him on the side and back of his head and bit him on the back. I asked if I could see where Bethany bit him, and [VICTIM #1] lifted his shirt. While doing so, I observed a bruise on [VICTIM #1]’s back where he stated Bethany bit him, as well as a deep cut along the underside of [VICTIM #1]’s right arm. I asked [VICTIM #1] if Bethany ever had a knife with her. He stated she did have a knife, and later clarified it was a large kitchen knife. I was unable to locate this knife while at the scene.

I returned to Bethany on Highway 78 and asked her where the knife ended up. She said “What knife?” I told her that I spoke with [VICTIM #1] and he had a nasty gash on his arm. She said “He probably does, again, probably.” I asked Bethany what would have caused that to happen. She was calm at this time and paused for a few seconds, but then began speaking with a crying tone again. I asked her to walk me through what happened. She said “I fell, I guess, and I guess he fell over it, I don’t know.” She stated he was drunk when she got home and he took everything away from her. She then began explaining she just came home from an earlier incident at [REDACTED]’s house and [VICTIM #1] pushed her. She began to explain what she did next, but paused and said “Am I getting in trouble for this?”

I asked if what happened after [VICTIM #1] pushed her was when he got cut. She stated no, he did it the other night. Bethany then began speaking about what [VICTIM #1] told her, that she was starting to smell like black people, and that she was fishy and nasty. I asked Bethany again about what happened tonight. She stated [VICTIM #1] told her she was a who*e and asked if this is what she liked. She stated he came at her and started hitting her, so yes. I asked Bethany So yes? What happened after that?” She paused and stated “I don’t know, why am I in trouble?”

She began speaking about another incident that happened on a prior night, where she stated [VICTIM #1] pushed her daughter and called her a [REDACTED BY AGENCY] just like her mama. Bethany stated her daughter brought her a knife while she was sitting on the toilet, and then went and hid in the laundry room. Bethany then stated she didn’t know what happened that night either. Bethany stated [VICTIM #1] beat her then as well.

Because Bethany continued to state she didn’t know what happened and began tangents in the conversation whenever I brought up the knife or [VICTIM #1] being injured, I believed Bethany was being deceptive with me.

I placed Bethany in handcuffs to the rear and checked them for proper fit. I double locked them and placed her in the rear of Ofc. Hamilton’s patrol vehicle. Bethany was then transported to Carroll County Jail for holding.
