On 01/23/2026 at approximately 1407 hours, dispatch broadcasted a BOLO for a white Chevrolet Colorado traveling southbound on Highway 61 near Roy Morgan Road, reportedly being followed by a Honda passenger vehicle. Dispatch advised that during a road rage incident, the driver of the Honda had pointed a handgun at the driver of the Chevrolet.

Upon hearing the BOLO, I responded to the area and positioned myself near the intersection of Bankhead Highway and Somerset Pl in an attempt to intercept the vehicles. Shortly thereafter, I observed both vehicles approaching my location. I maneuvered behind a gray Honda displaying Georgia tag #[REDACTED] and activated my emergency blue lights to conduct a traffic stop. The Honda pulled into the median of Bankhead Highway at The Bypass and came to a stop.

As I approached the vehicle, I observed the driver’s side window was rolled up and the window tint was extremely dark, preventing visibility into the interior of the vehicle. When the driver rolled the window down, I immediately instructed Folds to place his hands on the steering wheel to which he did not. I then instructed him to exit the vehicle. As soon as I told him to exit the vehicle I observed a handgun resting in his lap with his hand positioned on top of it. I immediately secured the firearm and removed it from Folds’ possession. Folds was then placed into handcuffs behind his back for officer safety and detained. The firearm was identified as a black Glock 20, Gen 4, 10mm handgun bearing serial number BFXU444, equipped with a mounted weapon light.

I then contacted the complainant, [VICTIM #1], by phone to obtain his account of the incident. [VICTIM #1] advised he was traveling westbound on I-20 in Douglas County when both vehicles were in the left lane and Folds was traveling in front of him. [VICTIM #1] stated he merged into the middle lane, at which time Folds also merged in front of him and abruptly applied his brakes. [VICTIM #1] advised Folds continued aggressive driving behavior and road rage toward him while traveling on I-20.

[VICTIM #1] stated he exited I-20 at Exit 24 in Villa Rica and that Folds followed him off the interstate. [VICTIM #1] advised both vehicles later traveled southbound on Highway 61 near the Georgia State Patrol post, where Folds pulled beside him and rolled his window down. [VICTIM #1] stated he rolled his window down as well, and Folds began yelling and cursing at him. [VICTIM #1] advised that during this encounter, Folds produced a handgun and pointed it directly at him. [VICTIM #1] stated he blacked out and immediately drove away from the area. [VICTIM #1] described the handgun as a black Glock equipped with a flashlight.

Afterward, I read Folds his Miranda rights and asked if he was willing to speak with me. Folds stated he understood his rights and agreed to speak. Folds advised that while traveling on I-20, [VICTIM #1] cut him off in traffic and nearly ran him off the roadway. Folds stated that when they exited at Exit 24 in Villa Rica, both vehicles approached the GSP post and an argument occurred. Folds denied pointing a firearm at [VICTIM #1]. He stated that his handgun remained inside his center console while traveling on I-20 and Highway 61, and that he only retrieved the handgun after being stopped so I would know where it was located.

INVESTIGATIVE CONCLUSION

Based on the totality of the investigation, probable cause exists to believe Camron Folds committed Aggravated Assault in violation of OCGA §16-5-21. [VICTIM #1] provided a consistent and credible account that Folds pointed a handgun at him during a roadway confrontation, causing [VICTIM #1] to fear for his safety. [VICTIM #1]’s detailed description of the firearm, including its color, make, and the presence of a mounted flashlight matched the Glock 20 handgun recovered from Folds’ lap during the traffic stop.

Additionally, Folds admitted to possessing the firearm in his center console during the incident. Given [VICTIM #1] ability to accurately identify the firearm and Folds’ access to the weapon during the encounter, it is reasonable to conclude the firearm was displayed and used in a threatening manner. Folds was subsequently placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault.

Folds’ vehicle was towed by Phillips Towing, and the Glock 20 handgun was turned over to Evidence Technician Cole #939 for processing and storage.
