On December 30, 2025, I, Deputy Herman Benefield, was dispatched to a report of a gunshot wound at [400 BLOCK] N. Raburn Road. Dispatch advised that it was unknown whether the suspect was still on scene and that the suspect had possibly left in a Chevrolet Silverado.
Upon arrival, I made contact with the victim, identified as [VICTIM #1], who was located on the front porch of the residence. While briefly speaking with [VICTIM #1], he stated that the suspect had left the scene in either a silver or white Chevrolet Silverado. I then assisted [VICTIM #1] to his feet and off the porch in order for EMS to gain access to his wound.
After [VICTIM #1] was placed into the ambulance and removed from the immediate scene, he advised that he had been involved in an argument with the suspect, identified as David Hogans, regarding trash located on the property. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was speaking with [REDACTED], David Hogans’ girlfriend, when Hogans shot him. [VICTIM #1] was unsure of the type or caliber of firearm used.
Due to [VICTIM #1] being in significant pain and EMS administering medication, I was unable to obtain any further details at that time. [VICTIM #1] was transported by EMS to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The scene was subsequently turned over to Investigator Millsap for further investigation.
