On 11/23/25 at approximately 2324 hours, I responded to the back door of the Irish Bred Pub in reference to an intoxicated individual with a knife.
Upon arrival, I met with James Garrett and [VICTIM #1]. Due to [VICTIM #1] telling dispatch that James had a knife, I immediately placed him in handcuffs for safety. I could immediately tell that James was intoxicated due to his having difficulty standing, glassy watery eyes, and the overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person.
I spoke with [VICTIM #1], who stated that James came up to the front entrance of the Pub with a large kitchen knife on his person. [VICTIM #1] wouldn’t let him in due to the knife and James having a previous negative interaction with another regular patron of the bar. He told James to go around to the back door of The Pub to speak with him, and he agreed.
While at the back of The Pub near Tisinger Vance on Wagon Yard Plaza, [VICTIM #1] sees James in the courtyard of Tisinger Vance. He told James to walk to The Pub, and James agreed. At that point, [VICTIM #1] stated that James no longer had the knife on him. He assumed that he had placed the knife near Tisinger Vance.
I had James show me where the knife was, but he was too intoxicated to remember where he had placed it. I searched the area, but no knife was found. James also began to cry at this point.
It should be noted that James is a cook for a local restaurant, and it’s not uncommon for cooks to have their own knives. What is uncommon is to be intoxicated to the point of not being able to stand up and attempting to patronize a bar with it.
James was charged with Disorderly Conduct Public Drunk C66-7(A)(21) and transported to jail, where jail staff took custody.
