On 04-21-2026, while on duty, I heard day shift units dispatched to [50 BLOCK] Leslie Lane, Villa Rica, in reference to an unknown problem. Dispatch advised that a female’s arms and leg may be broken while a male was yelling in the background. Dispatch then updated responding deputies that the female had been beaten and was bleeding badly.

I advised dispatch that I would respond to the address. While en route, I was informed that a male identified as Greg Cohran had come to the residence, attacked a female there, and was armed with a machete.

A short time later, I arrived at [50 BLOCK] Leslie Lane. As I began pulling down the driveway, a Black male identified as [WITNESS #1] and a White female identified as [WITNESS #2] were frantically waving me down. I exited my patrol vehicle and was immediately advised by both individuals that Greg Cohran had come to the residence and attacked [VICTIM #1] with a machete before leaving the area on foot prior to my arrival.

At that time, I could hear a female screaming in pain from inside a camper located on the property. As I approached the camper door, I observed what appeared to be a small bloody piece of flesh on the ground, along with a trail of blood droplets on the ground and stairs leading to the camper entrance.

I entered the camper and immediately observed blood on the floor and walls. Inside, I observed a male later identified as [VICTIM #2] with a deep laceration to his right hand. I also observed a female later identified as [VICTIM #1] lying on a bed covered in blood and yelling in pain. I could see that her right hand had been cut, her ankle appeared nearly detached, and she was bleeding from the head. I could not initially determine the full extent of the head injury because it was covered by a cloth. Lying on the floor in front of the bed was a red-handled machete.

At that time, I was operating from a spare patrol vehicle and did not have immediate access to my IFAK or tourniquet. I asked [VICTIM #2] what had happened and who was responsible. [VICTIM #2] stated that Greg Cohran attacked both him and [VICTIM #1] and used the machete that was lying on the floor.

Corporal Nelson then arrived on scene. I briefly exited the camper and obtained gloves and a tourniquet from him. When I returned to [VICTIM #1] and attempted to assess whether a tourniquet could be applied to her leg, her ankle shifted and it became apparent that her foot was nearly amputated. Based on the severity of the injury, I believed any additional movement could cause further harm. At that time, Carroll County Fire/EMS arrived and took over medical treatment of [VICTIM #1].

I then escorted [VICTIM #2] from the camper to a chair outside. In better lighting, I observed a large open slash wound to his right hand and wrist area. I applied a tourniquet to his arm, retrieved gauze from EMS personnel, placed the gauze over the wound, and instructed him to maintain pressure on the injury.

Once medical treatment was underway, I asked [VICTIM #2] for a description of Greg. [VICTIM #2] advised that Greg was a White male wearing blue jeans and possibly a black or gray shirt. [VICTIM #2] stated that Greg lived somewhere in the area of Bar J Road. [VICTIM #2] did not know the direction Greg fled but believed he remained on foot. I relayed the suspect description and possible location information to incoming deputies so a search could begin.

I then asked [VICTIM #2] if he could explain what led to the assault. [VICTIM #2] stated that Greg was “going crazy” and accused [VICTIM #1] of stealing a single penny. [VICTIM #2] stated that was all it took before Greg began attacking both him and [VICTIM #1] with the machete. [VICTIM #2] advised that he and [VICTIM #1] were in a relationship. While speaking with [VICTIM #2], [VICTIM #1] could still be heard screaming in pain as Fire/EMS treated her. [VICTIM #2] became visibly upset while hearing [VICTIM #1] beg EMS personnel to help her, so I ceased further questioning at that time.

A short time later, a female began walking up the driveway. I stopped her and asked why she was there. She identified herself as [WITNESS #3] and stated she was a friend of [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] who lived a few houses away. [WITNESS #3] advised that she came to check on them because she had received several text messages from [VICTIM #1] throughout the day regarding Greg being at the residence.

[WITNESS #3] further advised that Greg had been at the residence the day prior and that she and Greg had gotten into a dispute because she believed he had stolen her phone.

[WITNESS #3] stated that shortly before the assault, [VICTIM #1] sent her a text message that read, “fu*k grag that mother fu*ker going crazy, you hear him?” [WITNESS #3] stated [VICTIM #1] told her she had locked herself inside the camper while [VICTIM #2] was outside somewhere and had instructed her to stay inside the camper. [WITNESS #3] stated that after several miscellaneous text messages, all communication from [VICTIM #1] suddenly stopped. See attached photographs and linked files for the text message records.

I then spoke with [WITNESS #2], who was the female flagging me down upon my arrival. [WITNESS #2] stated that [VICTIM #2] was her father and that she received a call from him advising that Greg was at the residence and acting erratically. [WITNESS #2] stated that she and her boyfriend, [WITNESS #1], came to the residence to check on the situation. [WITNESS #2] stated that she entered the camper, observed blood throughout the interior, and saw [VICTIM #1] lying on the bed bleeding. [WITNESS #2] stated she relayed this information to [WITNESS #1], who began grabbing sheets and covering [VICTIM #1]’s wounds while [WITNESS #2] called 911.

At approximately that time, I heard over my portable radio that deputies had located Greg Cohran on Highway 78 and had taken him into custody. I was also advised that Greg had a cut on one of his arms.

Shortly after Greg was taken into custody, Deputy Johnson, Deputy Cone, and Deputy Acord arrived at [50 BLOCK] Leslie Lane to assist units already on scene.

Investigator Boyd, Lieutenant Jackson Lawrence, and Crime Scene Technician [REDACTED] later arrived on scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
