On 01/12/2026 at approximately 1833 hours, I responded to Tanner Medical ER in reference to a male in the ER waiting room drinking beer, with security present with the subject. Dispatch reported that the subject was a white male wearing jeans, boots, and a tan shirt.
Upon arrival, I met with Tanner Medical security inside, where the male was attempting to check in at the front counter. I overheard nurses inform the male patient that he had been present earlier and had left before receiving treatment. I asked the subject if he needed to see a doctor, and he replied yes. When asked why, he stated it was due to beer. I then inquired about his plan, and he responded, “I don’t know.” Upon asking where he was from, the subject stated Bowdon. When asked why he was in Carrollton, he reported calling 911 and being transported to Tanner Medical.
During my interaction, I detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, and his speech was slurred. When asked how many beers he had consumed that day, the subject stated two. I asked if he had identification, and he attempted to stand but had difficulty due to his apparent intoxication. Security advised that the subject had been drinking in the lobby and noted that the beer was still cold. Security then moved the subject to the front counter in the breezeway to allow others to check in. I was able to obtain the subject’s license and identified him as Jayson Hardy.
Once in the breezeway, I asked Mr. Hardy if I could search him after observing his Concealed Carry Firearms ID in his wallet. Mr. Hardy consented to the search. After searching Mr. Hardy, I placed him under arrest, applied handcuffs (double locked and checked for fit), and advised him he was under arrest for public intoxication and drinking in the lobby. Mr. Hardy stated he had nowhere else to go. While escorting him to my patrol vehicle, I explained he could not drink in the hospital. He again stated he had nowhere else to go.
After securing Mr. Hardy in the back of my patrol vehicle, I returned to Tanner Medical to gather additional information about the earlier incident. I spoke with multiple staff members. The front nurse confirmed Mr. Hardy was drinking in the lobby, walking around, and had attempted to reenter a restricted area. Another nurse confirmed that Mr. Hardy had been seen earlier and had left before treatment could be provided. Staff also reported that after Mr. Hardy initially departed, he returned with a bag of beer.
I transported Mr. Hardy to the Carroll County Jail, where he was booked and charged with the following:
Disorderly Conduct: Public Drunk C66-7(A)(21)
