On 4/24/2026 at approximately 2022 hours, I responded to 650 North Lakeshore Drive at the pickleball courts in reference to a fight in progress. Dispatch advised that several people were involved in the fight and specifically noted that a white male in khaki pants with no shirt was directly involved and had started it.

Upon my arrival, I noticed numerous people leaving the area. Other officers and I attempted to make contact with individuals involved in the fight or witnesses to the incident. While driving through the parking lots, I noticed males running towards their cars. I saw a blue pickup truck with a broken taillight, which appeared to be fleeing the scene. The pickup truck was driving quickly in the parking lot. As I attempted to follow the pickup truck, I was flagged down by the original complainant. The female explained that she had seen the fight and described the same male that dispatch described. The complainant also told me that he was possibly in the same blue truck I had just seen leaving. Another witness approached me, showing me a short segment of a video where a white male with khaki pants and no shirt on was engaged in a fight with several black males.

One witness claimed the male’s name was Lane Weaver and that he lived in Villa Rica. I began driving towards Bankhead Highway to attempt to locate the pickup truck. I quickly identified a blue pickup truck with a broken driver ‘s-side taillight on the Highway 166 Bypass, turning onto Bankhead Highway. I ran the license plate and noticed that the registered owner was Lane Weaver.

I activated my blue lights and pulled the vehicle over on Bankhead Highway. I approached the driver’s side door and met with the driver. I immediately noticed the driver was wearing khaki pants, no shirt, and had a busted lip, which had dried blood. I asked the driver for his license, which he claimed he did not have with him.

I then asked the male to exit his vehicle. I conducted a consent search of his person and removed a knife from his pocket. I identified the male as Lane Weaver. I then placed the male in double-locking handcuffs, both hands to the rear, and checked for proper fit. I explained to Lane that he was not under arrest and just being detained. I read Lane his Miranda Rights, which he told me he understood and was willing to speak with me. Lane immediately began explaining his involvement in the fight. Lane seemed to be nervous and spoke quickly and frantically to explain that he did not start the fight. I explained to Lane that numerous people claimed he was smoking marijuana at the park. Lane gave me consent to search his vehicle, admitting that there would be “shake” in the vehicle. I searched Lane’s truck and located a small bag with what appeared to be a very small amount of marijuana that had already been rolled and used.

Based on Lane’s quick admission to being involved in the fight, the video I observed of Lane fighting several people, the multiple witness accounts, and Lane’s obvious injuries indicating he was in a fight, I told Lane he was under arrest.

I secured Lane in the rear of my patrol vehicle. I locked Lane’s vehicle and then transported him to the Carroll County Jail for booking.

Lane was charged with the following:

• OCGA 40-8-23E Taillight Requirements/Lenses
• OCGA 40-8-73.1 Window Tint Violation
